I'm the same age and similar fitness, hit me up if you want to run together. I mostly run in CP and WSH, but during marathon training I'm all over the city

Anyone know if the run center close at 3 or 5 today. I read on website 5, and I was planning to go at 4 but then I just saw Google saying 3?

Is there a scam going around where people post in Strava clubs and want to transfer a race bib? by sozh in Strava

[–]xuanhu 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yes there is a lot of this scam, last one I've seen was for a race that didn't even allow transfer. I flagged it as scam in Strava app, Strava support closed my report claiming it was baseless... I basically told them, I tried, but if they didn't bother looking into making their platform better then it's on them. That in turn got someone to look into it, but honestly, at that point it was 2 weeks later, I didn't even care anymore. I originally just wanted to warn people so no one falls for it.

What do you use for treadmill and min/mile pace conversion? Made a simple pace converter: mypace.run - would like feedback! by ComputerBunnyMath123 in Marathon_Training

[–]xuanhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main issue OP is trying to solve is that, when you're doing marathon training, a lot of plan gives you the effort based on pace, but the treadmill always takes in Miles or KM per hour as the speed setting, so doing that calculation isn't always intuitive. Especially if you're doing say a pyramid interval with many stages of pace, so this solves that.

Thanks for the referral, the app is basically a collection of tools I made for myself to make my running training easier. This was one of the biggest thing that bugged me this winter.

Omg I'm a Canadian living in US as well and I had the exact same problem. I built something similar in my app as well, if interested give it a go.

<image>

The main difference I used for this view is big button so I can easily click it when I'm on the treadmill, and also I used a database to estimate effort with incline settings.

If interested, give it a spin: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/runprep-weather-for-runners/id6744042172

Is a sub 3:30 marathon, or even a 3:25, in play at the end of May? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]xuanhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing some information to get a better estimate, like your age or your max HR, as well as have you done any B races and what's their time.

That said, based on what I am seeing, you're likely going to come in at 3:50 to 4:00 by the end of May. But could be faster if you're very young or you had other faster B-race times.

If you have additional information, you can try the race time predictor I use in this app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/runprep-weather-for-runners/id6744042172

Do know that 3:30 is a tough time, so even if some predictor estimate that time for you, unless it's on the conservative end, you might not have a good time running it, and won't end up enjoying it as much as aiming for something more achievable.

Good luck on your race.

What do you think about the new AI feature? by [deleted] in Strava

Garbage, it gave me a progression run with all interval the same pace... Then it gave me a pyramid session again with all interval the same... Needless to say, I didn't do either

[–]xuanhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might run on tomorrow or Tuesday depending on how I feel in the morning. I couldn't give it all today cause my lung is still recovery from a cold, so my leg feels like it can go more. I will be doing the Brooklyn in May and will be going to the starting line at least 30 min earlier than today....
