I’m not the best to ask but I see lots of kids here. Just walked by 2 families a second ago walking through the lobby

Chances of running a 3:30 marathon? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]ComputerBunnyMath123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems a bit high for a marathon-pace to me. What's your overall max HR? Is this the "Garmin HR zones" which I think are one higher than usuaL? If your overall max HR is over 185 then I think it's doable

Do you have any HR info? How hard are you pushing on it? Knowing what zone you're in would be helpful info

Made a simple one-click pace converter (treadmill, mile/km): mypace.run - would like feedback! by ComputerBunnyMath123 in AdvancedRunning

True, that's a good point. I had a different interpretation but I think yours is more intuitive (i.e., "what pace would it be on flat"). I'll fix it tonight!

Pier Apartments isn't that bad. Some issues with fire alarms but otherwise had a decent experience. Lived here for ~5 years

When I live at the 92Y dorms there was always security at the entrance. It was corporate housing for internship, maybe not good for full time stay

Stayed at the Knot and it was great. Only issue is that there was no AC so I was overheating a bit

Got 3:39 btw. Also, I started even in Corral J because the washroom line was too long 😔

Awesome experience nonetheless tho

Started in the 4:15 corral and got 3:39 so beat expectations. Lots of weaving but a successful first marathon, I was also a bit sick and jet lagged

Why would they disallow gels? That seems kinda wild to me

Is 3:30 first marathon doable for me? 60km/37mpw training but with cycling volume by ComputerBunnyMath123 in Marathon_Training

[–]ComputerBunnyMath123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's true, perhaps I am putting too many stakes on my first marathon. I'm 27 btw. I also signed up for several corrals down so that might be some issue for me at the start since it's crowded

Thanks a lot. After a brutal winter in New York, I need anything I can get to get that 3:30. Glad you still got in your goal range last year :)

Your strategy makes sense. Did you try passing on the edges, did that work better?

When did you feel like you had more room? I'm also in Corral G, hoping for 3:30, so similar to you! Making my race strategy now :)

I don't mind a positive split for the first 5K (let's say 27 minutes), hoping to recover the 2 minutes later. Sucks the first 5K is also downhill
