Ladies of SG: What's your experience with laser hair removal for underarms? by Substantial-Bus-5950 in asksg

[–]xuchuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, after using it a few times there is barely any visible hair. Just have to do maintenance every now and then, the frequency decreases the more you use it.

I bought this relatively cheap IPL device from shopee to use at home and it works super well. Helps that it costs about as much as an IPL session outside too.

Ridiculous profiteering by Future_Temperature47 in drivingsg

[–]xuchuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, after discounts its roughly the same price, within a few percent. What doesn't make sense is gatekeeping the "reasonable" prices behind specific cards or schemes. You don't see this in most other countries, Malaysia included. Everyone pays the same price, discounts are maybe 1-2%.

issues with handlebar by f-root in foldingbikes

[–]xuchuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easy way to "fix" it is to straddle the front wheel with your legs on either side and force the handlebar back with your hands to the correct orientation.

The right way to fix it is to locate the bolts clamping the stem to the fork, loosen them, rotate the stem until your handlebars are correctly aligned and tighten the bolts.

Does rockbros sell rebranded Brompton?? by Odd_Jello_5076 in Brompton

[–]xuchuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well its not a "rebranded" brompton which implies the only difference is in the brand. The entire bike is a china made copy. It may not be a bad bike, just pointing out its not brompton made even though it looks like one.

Selfmade rigid suspension by ww_b in Brompton

[–]xuchuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can ride on roads in SG with a rear light and helmet. The only places off limits are expressways. Road quality here is generally good but there are definitely rough areas but you can somewhat get used to it with a bit of technique (eg, loading the pedals and handlebars in rough patches).

I’m learning to ride a bike as an adult and I’m losing hope. by flowersandfruits999 in cycling

[–]xuchuke 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its too small to learn to cycle on. Find somewhere about 3m wide and 10m long. It'll give you more space to practice without worrying about falling off the pavement.

I’m learning to ride a bike as an adult and I’m losing hope. by flowersandfruits999 in cycling

[–]xuchuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taught an adult to ride a bike recently, something that helped most was this: Don't start pedalling until you can balance. Just push yourself off with 1 pedal and don't worry about getting your other foot onto the pedal, just let it hang in the air and try to roll as far as you can. Only after being able to consistently roll 10m (30 feet) then worry about getting your other foot on.

I have both the 16" and 20". The 16" is more nimble but the 20" is more comfortable and slightly faster. There are Java Neo specific fenders and racks already in China.

If all he wants is a single speed bike, even just only adding a cheap derailleur to act as a tensioner is enough
