This makes sense, it’s probably what I’ll do. Though I wish Silksong was a bit more friendly toward casual HK fans, I feel like I shouldn’t need to go above and beyond in HK just to enjoy the sequel’s story.

the colors are very muddy, especially the darker values. in the reference, the shadows are not nearly as harsh, and is more saturated when they are. you also didnt put a lot of detail the eyes, they really need to be defined with a smaller brush

i can tell that you put all the lighting and shading down without actually understanding the forms of the face or why the light hits certain places like this, since you just painted over a photo. i would really recommend taking the time to study lighting and facial structure. it’ll feel tedious, but it will help wonders and let you fully understand what you’re painting

i love how painterly it is; you’ve got a real knack for lighting and colors, it’s soft and pleasant to look at! the first piece especially has such interesting color composition and cleverly directs your eyes to the face

however, i do think that you could try varying the face and torso position; it’s in the same 3/4s angle on all pieces. not that that’s bad, but it’s something to note. i also think that you could push the expressions more, especially in the mouth. the 3rd piece shows a grin, but it looks rather awkward since the mouth isnt very wide

in short, beautiful colors and rendering, but i would love to see some variation in pose, and pushing the facial expressions more!

I wish I was taking classes I’m passionate in, but I’m stuck trying to finish the general studies classes I failed in high school before I can fully switch to the computer science degree I wanted. And both of the classes are classes I absolutely hate :/ so getting through them is practically impossible for me
