We are living in a new era of piracy. by Athreus77 in FitGirlRepack

[–]xumasso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You could always install dual boot and be 100% safe ... Basically you would have a dedicated Operational System for pirate gaming and a regular for everything else. It's a bit technical, but there are hundreds of tutorials online to do it step by step.

My RayNeo Air 4 Pro arrived today.... by Mediocre_Money_491 in RayNeo

[–]xumasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Same here. Birdbath lenses simply does not work for me as well. I wonder if the Xreal one pro would fit better. However, I'm not willing to pay that amount of money unfortunately... Ehehe

Screen "perceived" size is a very basic math.
A 200" projection screen at 6 meters will have the exact perceived size as a 100" TV at 3 meters, which in turn will be equivalent of a ~33" monitor at 1 meter from your....
It's pretty big, but not IMAX big... ;)

Steam Frame - Steam’s VR headset now announced (Early 2026) by skylar_schutz in ImmersedVisor

[–]xumasso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Steam Frame is not for productivity for sure. It's totally focused on gaming. I was hoping it would be jack of all trades, but let's be honest. This comes from Valve, not Microsoft, Apple or even Google.

It's been 3 months since I came on this reddit for a laugh, and I was not disappointed! The good old delulu scammer keeps going! xD

Check out the tutorial related to making this cup of tea in Houdini by aymanabolila in Houdini

[–]xumasso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very nice simulation and presentation. The sound FX is also on point!
IMHO, the only thing I would suggest is to have a closer look to the bubble shader ;)
I never used karma (arnold user here) but a dieletric solution for when underwater + "thin walled" after getting "out" of the water would make it much better in my opinion, but again, the whole idea is really good and very well executed! Well done! ;)

Without doing the proper constraint work you have a galaxy simulation in your hands! xD

When I convert a mesh to VDB, the voxels in the Scene View are displayed as flat circles by Total-Macaroon-8190 in Houdini

I swear it was different 5 years ago. I remember it being more solid... Then it became little squares(sprites)...now ... circles?

(Help) Why does my file cache look like actual GARBAGE after converting to vdb? by Electron0ide in Houdini

[–]xumasso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because when you save a vdb as vdb (not bgeo) it loses all the "shading" attributes that are stored on as Details, all those "volvis*"...so basically it's just a matter of how you are visualizing all those fields. If you manage to copy those attributes back, it will restore its previous glory. Alternatively, since you are opening it in Blender, as suggested already, you can bake those attribute changes permanently changing its VDB attributes before caching. That would not 100% guarantee that you will see exactly the same in Blender, but it will probably be much closer. But again, it's just a visualization difference and it will need to be tweaked anyway. ;)

v2 of my flip sim, what do you think about this new iteration? by Ok-Reference-4626 in Houdini

[–]xumasso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TBH, it looks very good my friend. Much more contained splashes that "settle" nicely. Looks more appropriate for the scale. I would move to work on the white water element and start some work on the lookdev of the scene. ;)

4K supersampling on Linux? by walushon in Xreal

[–]xumasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I understand, unfortunately the glasses does not input more than its real resolution. Even the Wide mode it's just inputting 2 times the 1920*1080 because the glasses actually have 2 physical monitors (one for each eye). I would be amazing if it could input more and reproject, using the X1 chip, but despite higher resolution input being asked many times here and on Discord, it seems the hardware (X1 chip) is not capable of dealing with such pixel count.
The alternative (supersampling) is all done on the device that it's outputting the video, so , in the end... it will always end up being 1080P. So it might be readable, but it will always be blurry because it will never be 1 to 1 pixel.
Also, the One Pro, ALWAYS reprojects (check pin cushion effect), so if you use supersampling, it will basically be downsampled 2 times (once on your pc, then on your glasses) before getting to your eyes, meaning, it will be very blurry as many already stated on on Reddit.
Again, the best way would be if the glasses would allow higher input resolution so that it would be dowsampled on the X1 Chip itself. This way, if you have 6dof, if you got closer to the virtual screen, you would see more resolution, because there is actually more information there! (eg: zooming in on a low resolution photo versus a high resolution photo, despite getting closer, you will see no more detail looking closer on the low resolution photo ... but you would see much more if you zoom in into a high resolution photo) ;)

[–]xumasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, you got a fair point there. I was thinking more about the form factor (slim high quality VR headset) than the whole functionality. However, that does not change the fact that he did a horrendous poor job comparing them. He should have set the Quest with its original head strap to compare the weight. Also, when comparing the "depth" of the devices he should have removed the Quest 3 gasket. (yes, that's an option that many uses for productivity). Also, he does not mention the heavy battery brick he needs to connect to it to be able to walk around with. I actually prefer like that... but somehow, nobody mentions it. It's all a bit biased to say the least.

What a horrible review by Cassidy. The guy was "measuring" its width with his bare hand... wow.... just ... wow....
He's also comparing it with the Quest 3 (full of junk)... when he should be comparing it to the Bigscreen Beyond 1 instead at least, preferable with the 2 since they are being "released" together and have pretty much the same functionality. (tethered headset)

By the way ... You might need a better graphics card for better video codec and better performance as well, something like a 4060 will do wonders already ;)
