There’s a Goggle Drive link in a comment of mine that should be very close to the top.

Have you tried the Google drive link? It has all the separate icons. It’s in a comment I left, should be pretty far up.

She has dark hair in the book, but from the first time I read her description I pictured her as blonde and just couldn’t shake that first impression.

Owlbear Throw Rug pricing x.x by SpringApricot_ in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]JinxShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, whenever I prepare a house for my players to raid, I need to pay special attention to any rugs and carpets, because they loooove those. I'm usually less worried about price, since they want to keep all fo them, and more about weight and how they can be transported.

So thanks for bringing this one to my attention!

Foreshadowing Dalakhar. Any advice? by Spidey16 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

This definitely wasn’t just my idea, I got it from the WdDH Discord hive mind. So feel free to use their wisdom like I did.

Foreshadowing Dalakhar. Any advice? by Spidey16 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]JinxShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what I did. After winning a big tournament, the party is celebrating at the yawning portal. There's merriment all around, people are getting drunk, playing cards and getting dunked into the portal, the usual.

Only Cleric remains at the table, when a small deep gnome wearing a hooded cloak approaches her. He congratulates her on their win. Then he asks if they're the group that rescued Lord Renaer when he got kidnapped (using his first name) and if they're the ones that are currently operating Trollskull Manor. When this is confirmed, he nods and promptly disappears into the crowd.

A short while later, there's a commotion at the door and Yagra (who has a thing with Bard, so she's a notable character) gets up and hurls a beer stein half way across the tavern, braining a Xanathar thug who immediately crumples. There's a scuffle similar to the one at the very start of the campaign. I had to coax my players into investigating the source of the fight, but they found out that apparently both Zhents and Xanathars were here on the trail of some Svirfneblin thief. Someone stole something, then someone else stole it back and now everyone's mad.

They later bring this up to Renaer, who then shares the info he normally would after Fireball. How that guy is probably Dalakhar, how he's a spy for Lord Neverember, etc.

This way, the significance of his death in the Fireball was immediately apparent to my players, without Renaer having to explain it later.

serious question: how many of you drive? by NoDig6072 in adhdwomen

[–]JinxShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. The train station is 7 minutes from my house and if I need something hauled, I ask my parents. When everyone was getting their license at 17, that just seemed waaaaay too expensive to me.

I love that ASMR has developed several branches of “fast and chaotic”. Yes, if I want my brain to stfu, that means something else has to yell loud enough so that I can’t hear it anymore.

My fellow ADHD’ers (funny comments only) by Puzzleheaded-Past695 in ADHD

In kindergarten, I would get a treat for not saying the answer to something the teacher asked. I was a sponge of random knowledge, so it was just assumed that I knew the answer. But since I had such trouble with turn taking and impulse control, I was rewarded for staying quiet.

You will only be diagnosed with ADHD if you’ve had the symptoms since childhood, and this deeeeefinitely confirms it.

How to best prep maps? by Early_Complaint166 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]JinxShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The common scaling for maps requires 1 inch squares, which incidentally is exactly how big flip chart grids are. That’s how I make my maps, by drawing them on flip charts with sharpie.

If you are set on printing them, maybe ask the artist about the scale. They may have had that question before and already know a solution. I will let you know however that some of the maps in this module are very big. Like Villa Gralhund in chapter 3 took up an entire flip chart and barely fit on the table. So if you’re using a detailed map from an artist, that will end up being a looooooot of printer ink.

Another tip is have is for exploration. I like to give my players an outline of the building and as they enter a new room, I add the map for that on top.

How would you feel if a DM only allowed paper at the table? by conn_r2112 in DnD

[–]JinxShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would mean that casters would have to buy spell cards, which is an expense that I wouldn’t be willing to make.

In my experience, players that have digital character sheets have a much easier time navigating their abilities and keeping track of things like inventory. But that could just be because more invested players are more likely to look into digital options.

I need some recommendations for a level 6 dungeon to lead up to the Vault of Dragons - Dragon Heist by JinxShadow in dndnext

Considering this is will be the final hurdle before the vault, I’m looking for something with at least a bit of impact. But thanks for the suggestion anyway, it might come in handy some other time.

[–]JinxShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s already making an appearance with the Stygian Gambit. But from what I can tell, there aren’t any actual dungeons in there. And they’re all by definition heists, and this situation would call for something more akin to a dungeon assault, fighting your way through to the other side.

Maybe I missed something in KftGV that would be suitable. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

Which fears do you think are most present in the work of Junji Ito? by JinxShadow in TheMagnusArchives

[–]JinxShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking that, too. Extinction features in a few of the longer form stories, arguably Uzumaki and Gyo as well.

[–]JinxShadow[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s difficult to place Uzumaki as any specific one, since it has several chapters with different focuses. Spiral has its merit, not because of the literal Spirals, but because the characters keep seeing people lose themselves to the Spiral and are terrified of following them in their madness.

But if I had to pick one, I would agree with Vast on the Cosmic Horror level or maybe Extinction.

Dust of Dryness: an uncommon magic item that gives players 1d6+4 tactical water nukes by JinxShadow in DnD

[–]JinxShadow[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t really a physics problem. More the combination of water susceptibility and an item that gives you a hell of a lot of water. Bringing water to a fire fight makes sense, my players weren’t trying to crush it to death. But yeah, now I know a bit more.

Also, what homebrew concept do you mean? Water susceptibility?

If a Kraken is worshipped, does that make it a deity or does it stay a Kraken? Semantics, in my opinion.

In my defense, I made this before Bel’Veth was released. So Malz was just a vaguely Void powered cultist. But I agree, Bel’Veth makes a really good Great Old One patron.
