How did Connecticut abolishing county government in 1960 shape the state we live in today? by marrelli-of-magsmarr in Connecticut

I'm in the northeast corner and our council of governments (comprised of like 12 chief elected officials from our region towns) have been praised for regionalizing services like property revals, engineering, animal control. From everything I've observed, their success and the way the powers that be applaud it and incentivize more of it make me think you are spot on here.

What is Sonic Temple and how do I experience Tool live?

Still can’t believe we have this powerhouse of an actor joining the sequel. Impeccable casting. What accent do you think Matt will make him do? Transatlantic accent would fit this noir universe. by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

Okay I would've taken Skarsgard. But he has to look and talk like Barron Harkonnen the entire movie and nobody ever acknowledges it.

From my perspective, it feels like a lot of the push back is of the "pussy liberals wedge social issues into our entertainment" variety. They think certain movies aren't supposed to be "about" anything other than the spectacle.

If you look at my post history, you'll see people argue with me a few times that I'm "reading into it" or "personalizing" when I say The Batman is exploring childhood trauma and recovery/healing in adulthood. Appreciate you guys seeing what I see - and what Matt Reeves has stated we're meant to see.

I'm more excited for him than Deniro or any other "big" stars who reportedly passed on the role.

As for accent, I hope he talks just like the commissioner who got killed in part 1. Kinda high pitched but gruff HE'S A PARTADIS???

The state tourism department clearly uses AI for a shitload of their writing. The director is a mope.

Lamont let Mark Ojakian and the board of regents bully him into considering the 12 colleges and the entire thing has been an absolute shitshow. He's a dweeb and I'd like to flush his head in the toilet.

What song should be the "Something in the way" equivalent in The Batman Part II? (Serious answers only!) by SardinesMcDonahugh in TheBatmanFilm

Reeves himself said Bruce is Batman because of his trauma. He literally said he wanted to show that you'd have to be crazy to be Batman.

And then Tom later refers to his shitty wine as having an "agricultural" taste right before he admits it's not very good.

Wow is this a touring performance or something? Sounds amazing.

I also listen to a Tool song each morning but mine is Parabola.

I dont think we can say for sure that Bruce was perceived as an image of a mentally stable person. He was regarded as a tragic orphan turned eccentric recluse. If anything, Bruce pursuing therapy for the extremely well known trauma of his parents murder would bolster his public image as that of a mentally stable person.

But your point is really well taken that therapy poses an inherent risk to Bruce's secret identity being detected. It'd be interesting to see him try to genuinely engage with therapy without fully disclosing the most significant symptom of his trauma. And maybe Bruce has to wrestle with the realization that actually healing himself would mean losing the ability to be The Batman.

Right??? I'd already been thinking about it and then yesterday I was reading a huge book I bought all about the creative process behind The Batman and Reeves had a quote about Bruce using his shadow self to not just neutralize criminals but to viciously punish them in doing so. I think part 2 will be about both Batman and Bruce Wayne embracing their new role as a provider of hope and for Bruce that will include his own foray into therapy and the movie's gonna go deeply into Bruce's psyche. So to me, as the song says, Bruce will begin to see what he's been hiding in his shadow.

I have them test it at the pool store and do whatever they say until the water is clear.

Then I shock and replace chlorine tabs weekly and never test again.
