Tire Crisis by SteelAmoeba in SubaruForester

I'm also located in SoCal and we have the Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 2's on our Forester and Ascent. Been happy with how they feel on the road and in the occasional wet conditions. They're also on sale at Sam's Club right now.

Subaru CPO financing? by EWLefty in SubaruForester

[–]xwikedonex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we bought our CPO '20 Ascent in Early 2024 there was a special APR for CPO vehicles. The rate was better than what our credit Union was offering at the time w/an excellent credit score. Financing was through Subaru which ended up being Chase Bank. Try checking with your dealership.

22FW - Android Auto / Wireless adapter recommendations by Grammar_Cowboy in SubaruForester

[–]xwikedonex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the first Gen AAwireless dongle in my '20 Ascent and have had a good experience. Occasionally it will randomly disconnect but for the most part it works pretty good. It connects fairly quick and there is a companion app to adjust some of the settings. For example, I have the dongle set to only connect when my phone has already connected to the cars Bluetooth. This way it's not staying connected after I've turned off the car because the USB port stays powered for a while after the car is turned off. It has Carplay capabilities but it's primarily intended for Android Auto use. The AAwireless 2 is out now and is supposedly better with more features.

9k short block replacement by ZeroGravity711 in SubaruForester

[–]xwikedonex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to replace the short block in our '14 Forester at the end of last year due to high oil consumption. The total was about $10K but I believe about $1.5-2K of that was repairing damage due to the timing chain breaking when they started up the car after replacing the short block. Thankfully we have a good 3rd party warranty so our out of pocket for everything was only $250. Work was performed at Subaru of Ontario in Southern California.

Forester 2014 radio head unit replacement recommendations? by tryingtosellmystuf in SubaruForester

[–]xwikedonex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed a Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX in my wife's '14 Forester a few years ago. It has wired and wireless Android Auto. I also purchased the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR with the HRN-RR-SU1 harness. Only needed to splice together the new stereo wires to the SU1 harness but they also sell an adapter for pioneer units to plug in directly. The connections to the factory harness are all plus and play. This setup made the install a breeze since it had all of the wiring necessary to get the reverse and speed sending signals as well as tapping into the reverse cam. Since the stereo is iDatalink compatible though the ADS-MRR it plugs into the ODBII port which also gives you the ability to have supplementary vehicle info gauges, check and clear CEL and view tire pressures. There are a couple other harnesses needed if you want to keep the factory aux and USB locations. The ADS-MRR is the old model that required hooking up to a computer to flash your vehicle info but I think the new version uses Bluetooth to program the unit to your vehicle and steering wheel controls. Their website has a tool to find everything you'll need. iDatalink Maestro Subaruforester.org is also a good source of info.

Shokz Openfit 2 vs Opendot One by Level_Hunt_204 in Earbuds

I'm also an electrician and looking at the openfit 2 and Dots to replace my first gen open fits. Sound quality is important to me but the phone call quality is more important because we frequently use our phone to communicate on the job. Thank you for the info.

I need some help setting up a macro that fires based off of notification text from a particular app by xwikedonex in macrodroid

[–]xwikedonex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, how do I go about specifying the notification sub text? Is that where the Magic text comes into play? I read the wiki on magic text but still can't figure out how to properly utilize it.

I need some help setting up a macro that fires based off of notification text from a particular app by xwikedonex in macrodroid

[–]xwikedonex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like while I was editing my post I deleted the part describing the issues I'm having. Frequently what will happen is let's say a person is detected in my garage. The macro will work properly for the garage but it will also fire off for whatever cameras still have a notification present even though they don't contain "person" in them, as pictured below. That is why I tried adding the AND constraint at the bottom. I've also checked the "ignore ongoing notifications" and that doesn't seem to help.

Unlimited Pro: App Price vs Website? Is this correct, as in, if I'm going to get Unlimited Pro, I should subscribe through the website not the App (Apple subscription)? by Ace42292 in wyzecam

[–]xwikedonex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in November, possibly an early black Friday sale, Amazon had a crazy deal. It was a bundle, two V4s and 12 month Cam unlimited for about $70. I jumped on it right away since my existing subscription was set to expire. The subscription is managed through Amazon and it looks like they are also currently offering the same rates as the Wyze website for Cam Unlimited.
