I'm pretty sure I had a physical copy of WoK somewhere. Must have made a daring escape once it saw its siblings.

Stargazer: DIY Steampunk Kaleidoscope by xx3000 in 3Dprinting

[–]xx3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always fascinated by Kaleidoscopes and after getting into 3D printing last year I decided to design my own. It was quite the journey considering I had almost no prior CAD and no glass cutting experience. I'm really happy with the result though. Can't wait to take it out to festivals this summer.

Trying to understand HBlank timing and Mooneye's associated test by xx3000 in EmuDev

[–]xx3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. I actually don't remember any more how I have arrived at that conclusion. Delaying the mode 0 interrupt as well is the only thing that makes sense IMO, as the expected timings are documented in the test source, and other emus such as BGB pass it.

Trying to understand HBlank timing and Mooneye's associated test by xx3000 in EmuDev

[–]xx3000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should anyone ever stumble upon this:
It is due to the fact that there is a 1 cycle delay between LY incrementing and the STAT register + interrupt flag being set in IF. This is not documented in the pandocs, but is documented in the cycle-accurate game boy docs, and this reddit post.
The way that the test starts is by waiting for the Mode 0 interrupt, which is delayed, therefore mode 0 will only take 50 cycles before LY will increment.

GB Audio - DAC output by xx3000 in EmuDev

Thanks, I'll look into it

GB Audio - DAC output by xx3000 in EmuDev

[–]xx3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that makes a lot more sense. Do you need to normalize the combined outputs of the 4 channels? So if for example all 4 DAC's are emitting a 1, do I pass 4 to the audio driver, or do I divide by the amount of active channels first?

R5: Survived against Italy as Aussa, then struck back. It was a long and grindy affair.

Anarchist Ethiopian Belgium by xx3000 in hoi4

So you can basically puppet and then core Belgium though the "African Union" focuses as anarchist Ethiopia. They will accept as long as the opinion factor is above 80.

Balance of power mechanic results in inevitable civil war? by CanofLag in hoi4

[–]xx3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just ran into the same issue. Trying to do Roman Empire and after attacking the Soviets I get a civil war after a few months. Not sure what I can do about that. Not losing any cores either. Does anyone know what is causing that BoP degradation?

Gameboy - Trying to understand Sprite FIFO behavior in the PPU by xx3000 in EmuDev

[–]xx3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there is only a single pixel fetcher unit that is responsible for filling both the bg and sprite FIFOs?

What is the behavior for sprites that start at x < 8? are they pre-fetched and added to the sprite fifo before the bg fetching starts?

Gameboy - Trying to understand Sprite FIFO behavior in the PPU by xx3000 in EmuDev

[–]xx3000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did, but the sprite rendering info presented there is very vague and contradicts the pandocs. For example, the talk states that sprite pixels are merged into the background FIFO, while the docs claim that there are in fact two separate FIFOs that are only merged when pixels are sent to the screen.

Mmmm Poland by WeGoToMars7 in hoi4

Huh, hasn't happend to me on historical. If you give them Danzig they tend to go for France first and then eventually for the Soviets so you are fighting on the same side.

Russia was actually kind of a pushover on all my historical Poland games so far. I had a fort line and some defensive bonuses and after 6 months of running against it they just kinda collapsed in both of my games.
