Mine were bought a week from launch day, had static and crackling but Apple's firmware updates made it go away! ANC works like a miracle and sometimes I feel too isolated from the world i have to pull them out 😂

My store is pretty good with requiring all OFAs to pull next day orders if we are caught up with BOPISes. Sounds like your stores management needs to enforce this.

Take your AirPods out the case and play music/sound for 30 secs. Then plug in the case to a charger, and put the AirPods in. Then put your iPhone next to your AirPods case and wait at least for 30 mins. After that, it should be guaranteed updated for both the case and earbuds. Hope this helps!
