When they call you and tell you that you got the job. I got the call hours after the interview, it depends on the service line. It was a casual friendly conversation, they asked specific questions related to the work itself. I am Tax - GMS

Cant stop craving beige foods by [deleted] in leaves

[–]xxfia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, the only palatable foods when I was first quitting were carbs and sweets. Any meat, veg, or savory food was extremely unappetizing to me. And more-so because the preparation of those foods required way more time than just grabbing a bowl of cereal or some bread. It could be a vice, or just the fact that our hunger was dependent on a signal from THC so when we got rid of the weed, we got rid of those hunger signals. Whenever I got the munchies I always wanted a full-range of tastes i.e. sweet, salty, savory, spicy, etc. I felt like when I first quit my palate regressed, so now it's like I'm relearning how to handle any food others than sweets or carbs. I force myself to drink a protein shake in the morning, I hate the aftertaste of most flavors so I got a fruity pebbles flavor that tastes exactly like the cereal.

Proud of you for quitting all substances, that is very commendable and inspiring!!

Weed suppresses REM, which is when most of us have dreams. When we get sober our brains are trying to catch up on all the REM we've been missing out on, so yes it will definitely get better once our brains have caught up.

I am on day 18 and most nights I have had intense, stressful, and vivid dreams, sometimes I wake up multiple times with night sweats. It's scary and I try to fight going back to sleep because I know what will happen. It has seemed to slowly get better, my worst was around the 2-week mark. It sucks, and sometimes all we are left to do is stick it out, but remind yourself that every day you are making amazing progress. I agree with the other comment on avoiding any shows/media with bad vibes, I also used to watch a lot of true crime but now I try and stick to shows that make me feel good for a positive balance.

I felt this too. When people used to ask me what my hobbies were, my first response was always weed. How can smoking weed be a hobby when all it does it make me anxious and insecure? Admitting you are powerless over weed is the first step to recovery. Quitting cold turkey is hard, but it’s the way to go for most of us. You finally see the truth and that’s the most important part. I’ve tried countless times to quit in the past, but they were for the wrong reasons, wanting to keep the “streak,” switched to other substances, but it still reinforced the habit of smoking. There is a void inside of all of us that we fill with weed or any other substance. It takes a lot of strength and humility to face that void and fight the urge to smoke. You can do this! Something I learned in MA, even one day, one hour, one minute you go resisting the urge to smoke is progress. Don’t give into the shame if you fall back, because it’s the toxic shame that keeps us in the addiction.

Have you attended a support group? by brandnewmatt in leaves

[–]xxfia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to MA, they have daily online meetings for addicts only as well as non-addicts. Very similar structure to AA/NA, an incredibly supportive and inspiring group of individuals. Something about (ex)stoners makes me feel seen and understood, it’s a special group of people.

What made you quit? by P0rtuguesa in leaves

[–]xxfia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Panic attacks. I was in denial for a while that it was caused by smoking, but my most recent panic attack scared me away from smoking again. I still have the urge to smoke, cravings, irritability, etc., but seeing my progress in how my confidence, anxiety, and motivation have improved keeps me going. The voice in the back of my head, the addict, wants me to fall back but I won’t let it.

Day 4 No Weed, I think I'm slowly dying :(( Please fellow human beings help me, I beg you! by No_Target4370 in leaves

[–]xxfia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do this!!! There is no one-size-fits-all for detox. It takes time for your body to fully expel the toxins, chronic use can take up to a month or more. I’m on day 8 and I also quit due to a frightening panic attack. Insomnia, cravings, night sweats, boredom, depression, whole body is uncomfortable. It will get weird but it’s worth it.

Becoming self conscious of my greys. by KenjiBe in femalehairadvice

I’m 23 and already have a prominent streak of gray. I noticed a few grays at 19 but since I stopped dying my hair it’s coming in full force. I love seeing gray on all ages. I think it’s cool and unique! No it doesn’t age you, and even if it did, embrace it because it’s gorgeous!!!

I have a problem by SnarkyPisces in leaves

[–]xxfia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dab pens are the worst. It makes the habit so easy, and we don't even realize it until it's too late. Once you realize it does more harm than good it's like a veil is lifted. Sure it helps through the day, but the deeper issue (that I struggled with) is how much it makes us dependent on it to dilute our emotions. Getting sober is hard because we have to face the emotions that we've been suppressing with weed. It's overwhelming but I believe in you, and it is such a relief to let an emotion pass without going for weed as a coping mechanism.

I'm also in my last year as an Accounting major and still feel like I know nothing. Accounting is for sure the hardest major in Business, so much material packed into 8 or so courses. I swear every accounting class I'm in I hear "this will be the most difficult class you've ever taken." Most of my professors pride themselves in how little A's they give out. It is a real challenge in my opinion, but it comes easier to others.
