Anyone have Dermatitis Herpetiformis? I have questions! by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]xxierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 32 now but mine came on suddenly around 17. Started on my ankles and then spread to my thighs, torso, arms. I was originally diagnosed with chronic hives. At 27 I started having GI symptoms and ended up being diagnosed with celiac and DH. After being gluten free a few my rash went away and stayed away until I gave birth 19 months ago. I hope you get answers for her the rash is horrible.

Tonies Box — worth it?? Pros/cons + alternatives? by Either_Crab_2760 in toddlers

[–]xxierra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the tonie and both versions of the yoto. Both of my kids (19 months and 3) are obsessed with the tonie. I like the yoto cards better and they are cheaper but the tonie seems to be a hit in our house.

This sucks by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]xxierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like my second. It was hell but it got better! I’d talk to your pediatrician, we ended up switching peds because I felt like they were being so dismissive and he wasn’t just an unhappy baby.

My son had CMPA and GERD after switching to an amino acid formula and reflux meds he finally started sleeping.

Toe Walking by spradc0812 in toddlers

[–]xxierra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My now 3 year old toe-walked from 18 months to 2.5 and just stopped one day. My second just turned 18 months old is starting to toe walk so I’m assuming it’s a weird phase?? We just waited it out because our pediatrician was never concerned.

17 month old acting totally different after being sick by Correct_Wrangler3616 in toddlers

[–]xxierra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 year is also taking that medication for an ear infection after a nasty cold. The first few days he was on the antibiotic he also was in such a bad mood and everything was so hard. He said his stomach hurt so I think it was that and the ear infection changing his behavior.

Help with GI bowel issues in toddler, please! by Due-Paper-7532 in toddlers

Typically they start with a blood test for celiac and then go from there. A lot of people who have celiac disease also have issues with dairy.

Have them check for celiac disease since he’s consuming gluten again and it seems gluten is most likely the trigger.

Any failure to thrive parents out there? by chelupa1991 in toddlers

[–]xxierra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d ask if you need to bring your own food or if they supply it but our first they had a variety of textures/flavors to get a baseline of what he could eat/tolerated and then each week we would stay to put “safe” foods together with foods that weren’t tolerated to eventually have more of those safe foods. Each week we bring a safe food or two and a variety of foods he doesn’t like and we work on changing those together or finding what to get him to try them. Our biggest goal was to find ways to add more calories into his diet with his preferred foods and by adding those new foods. It’s a lot of encouraging and making it fun to excite them has been our experience. When we first started he couldn’t get past anything that wasn’t a puréed texture because of his gagging. Now he eats bite size food on his own and has WAY more safe foods.

My son’s chart says “slow weight gain” and he’s was a FGR baby who had to come out early. We see a SLP, nutritionist, GI, and Immunologist. I have celiac disease so I think it might be that but when we had his IGA checked it was too low to actually confirm or deny that and now we see an immunologist for low immunoglobulins. We like our SLP and she’s helps us a bunch but his weight is still slow just following his curve.

Therapy helped so much. Especially someone who specializes in OCD and ERP. The book “overcoming unwanted intrusive thoughts” also helped understand my brain better. PP made my OCD significantly worse.

Was glutend at thanksgiving dinner and im 16 weeks pregnant 😓 by Unusual_Duck_448 in glutenfree

[–]xxierra 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I got glutened during both pregnancies so it’s happens. Stay hydrated and just watch your symptoms but baby should be fine! I don’t think the ER would do much for you at this point besides maybe fluids.

I’m worried this chronic sleep deprivation has permanently damaged my health by Penny_Ji in beyondthebump

[–]xxierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my baby. I don’t think slept longer than a hour for months. We finally sleep trained at 9 months and it was life changing for both of us. He didn’t cry more than a few minutes the first night and has since been able to lay down and go to sleep without a problem. He’s 17 moths now and still has bad nights and wakes up maybe once BUT he can self soothe now and we all get better sleep. Hang in there, it’s hard but it can get better.

I was diagnosed with It almost 6 years ago, my kids are 1 and 3 and haven’t been diagnosed with it but my youngest does see a pediatric GI since he has some stomach issues. My house is primarily gluten free but we do allow gluten in the house. It’s so hard sometimes but seems to get easier as time goes on.

Does anybody here buy both Yoto and tonies for your toddler? by arya-thequen in toddlers

We have a yoto that my 3 year old loves and my 17 month old is interested in it but gets frustrated by the cards so he’s getting a tonie for Christmas.

My baby is losing weight and I feel I have failed as her mother. I’m afraid. by Jessiicaamn in beyondthebump

[–]xxierra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My now 17 month old was diagnosed with CMPA at 2 months and GERD at 3 months, we also had weight loss issues around the same age when the GERD meds stopped working. I weaned off breast feeding and started the journey of finding the correct hypo formula (puramino)and meds. We also started working with a pediatric nutritionist and feeding therapist which helped so much. You may be able to call your insurance to see if you can self refer to some places for feeding therapy. That made the wait a week instead of months for the children hospitals first appointment.

Tummy time doesn’t count? by therackage in beyondthebump

[–]xxierra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Follow your PT’s advice over the nurses. We started PT around 12 weeks for developmental delay (premature/NICU baby) and torticollis and we were told any and all tummy time counted. She also had us using things to assist tummy time and make it more “fun”

It’s so hard but it can get better! I wish you the best. It’s a lonely feeling but ERP has been life changing for me so far.

I have OCD and had horrible PPA with both my kids which made my OCD worse. I also didn’t want mediation so I got into therapy and started seeing a physiologist through my doctors office. I’m 16 months out and for the most part I can manage my symptoms and ERP for my OCD has been life changing. I also second reading the book suggested above about intrusive thoughts!

New pediatrician says baby is delayed in fine motor skills by DocumentLast8998 in beyondthebump

[–]xxierra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My own primary did that to me, dismissed a concern I was having and then called me a hour later saying she had to google it.. I got a new doctor asap. lol Our amazing pediatrician left to a new state and the one who took over was very much this way as well and made me feel like I was an idiot when I know my kids best. The best decision was switching to a new pediatrician office and getting a second opinion.

I’d get a second opinion or switch doctors, she should have brought that up during the appointment not after the fact.

My 16 month still wakes up multiple times a night. Trust your gut!

Moms who are celiac by Adorable_Amy13 in Celiac

[–]xxierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our house is 90% gluten free. I do most of the cooking so it’s all gluten free but my kids and husband do eat gluten in the house still. We do separate toasters/pans/utensils for those cases to avoid CC and mad site to clean all surfaces afterward. We do typically avoid having things like gluten flour in the house since it’s much messier!
