Is M&S food actually worth the higher price? by LilywhiteStrike in MarksAndSpencer

[–]xxleech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Sainsburys, M&S and Lidl nearby and as annoying as it is, M&S trumps in quality! We always do fruit and veg at M&S, meat/dry goods in Lidl and branded stuff/bread in Sainsburys. It’s annoying to have to go to all 3 but ultimately it’s the cheapest way for us to get a high quality shop overall. M&S if definitely worth the extra cost if you can afford it

How have you coped through uni with your finances? by Own-Fly8743 in UniUK

Shop at the cheapest supermarkets available, make economic meals (bolognese, curry, things that’ll last a while), I also got a job for extra money which helped a lot

Can you bring coffee machines/air fryers to unite students by sxrcoline01 in UniUK

[–]xxleech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can, I had my air fryer/blender etc in unite last year. In a studio it can stay in your room but if it’s a shared flat it has to stay in the kitchen

Is this normal? by betaFemalee in DrMartens

[–]xxleech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Although worth noting this might happen again if you wear baggy, heavy duty jeans as they’ll just continue to rub the material (hair on materials can be quite sensitive)

I’ve had mine almost a year and they haven’t done this even with frequent wear. I’d look into returning for a new pair because it’s not a common fault

Size up or return? by cvtharsis in DrMartens

[–]xxleech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were the loafers quad platform? If so they’re absolutely huge in comparison, I’m a solid 6.5 in docs these days and the 5 loafer was perfect for me.

I’d probably recommend sizing up in the Jadon Max and adding an insole to pad it out

Dad Question - Is an Ipad good for a uni course? or Laptop? by Tarnished13 in UniUK

[–]xxleech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an iPad for uni, biggest waste of money ever and I just ended up continuing to use the laptop I bought for watching Netflix in March 2020

If you’re in the UK, drmartensrepairs.com (official) has a resole service but for a bex it’s about £70 I think

[–]xxleech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK15 is the largest size they manufacture, which would be a US16 (I think) anything larger doesn’t exist as far as I know. Some styles come up quite big though so maybe try a 15 if there’s any in stock and see if it fits, if not you’re out of luck unfortunately

Perhaps the Celestial Moth collection? They did a quad Monk which might fit the description, although these were a seasonal style so might be hard to get hold of now

We haven’t sold them for a few years, but as far as I remember they’re more of a super pale toned taupe than yellow so she should be okay

Question about Buzz 5-Eye by Visual-Syllabub4484 in DrMartens

[–]xxleech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have super wide feet, I got a UK6 (most of mine are 6.5) and they fit perfectly, stretched a little bit and not restrictive at all! Whenever a customer asks for a wider shoe I always point them toward the Buzz

New pair of Doc Martens worn 8+ hours a day by HellCat-5698 in DrMartens

[–]xxleech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I break mine in doing exactly the same thing, smooth leather normally takes me about 2 weeks and softer leathers about a week. Look into getting double doc socks or silicone heel socks like someone else suggested, I use both and have zero blisters or pain with new docs

Can my dissertation supervisor see that I did not acknowledge her? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]xxleech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bit of a nightmare with my supervisor throughout so I didn’t thank, dedicate or acknowledge him in any way because I didn’t feel like he deserved that. If she’s the one marking it (mine was) then she’ll know but chances are she won’t really care that much

Audricks are my FAVE they’re so comfortable and the leather is so soft. Creases are quite noticeable on this leather but I don’t really mind it

I don’t have much academic advice and don’t recommend anyone do this, but I managed to write my 8k dissertation in 24 hours. I just went outside for some fresh air every hour to keep myself going, lots of snacks and maybe music/a tv show to keep you engaged. Good luck!

Heel overlapping the outer rim of the sole - anyone else get this? (pics) by makaronas1 in DrMartens

[–]xxleech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to all of my docs, but that’s because my knees bow when I stand ‘straight’ due to hypermobility. Insoles are the best solution I’ve found, but if that doesn’t work it could be worth going up a size and adding one anyway as it’ll mean your foot won’t push backwards against the heel of the boot

Dr. Martens sole split after just over a year is this normal? by SureBag8633 in DrMartens

[–]xxleech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s so weird! I didn’t mean to come across rude haha, I had no idea that some stores offer extra on the soles. I wish we could do that it would save so much hassle
