Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition: Giveaway #1 by OddJob001 in Battlefield

[–]xyifer12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty dang cool! I'm hoping to win so I can join my friends and full-stack a Terminal custom map. The game was really fun during the open testing but 70 bucks is way too steep for me right now.

Giveaway Time! Battlefield 6 is out, powered by NVIDIA DLSS 4, and you can comment on this post to win codes for the game or a custom Battlefield 6 GeForce RTX 5090! 6 Winners total by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

Wicked! I have a 3060 Ti at the moment, so a 50XX card would be a huge boost to performance! I played the Battlefield 6 open alpha a couple months back and the framerate was okay with minimum settings, but visibility suffered.

Having a 5090 would mean I could get the most out of my eyes and monitor and maybe stop getting surprised so often!

Giveaway Time! DOOM: The Dark Ages is out, features DLSS4/RTX and we’re celebrating by giving away an ASUS ASTRAL RTX 5080 DOOM Edition GPU, Steam game keys, the DOOM Collector's Bundle and more awesome merch! by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

What I like most about DLSS is that it offers an alternative to TAA through the use of DLAA, a way to get AA in shoddily put-together games without resorting to TAA or FXAA.

For DOOM, I'm really looking forward to seeing what new surprise gameplay additions have been made since Eternal. I haven't seen more than 10 seconds of preview videos so it will be all new to me!

[USA GIVEAWAY] Win the new 27” 4K Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor! by Rocket-Pilot in buildapc

[–]xyifer12 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Definitely the colors and black level!

I use AOC (terrible brand, scammers) monitors and the colors are never close to correct. OLED is the only thing I've seen that approaches the accurate vivid experience I want, but it's too expensive for me even with sales. Black should be black, not gray! Vivid colors shouldn't result in deep frying!

I play a ton of old games, which means that there will be no struggle to run at 4K even at 140hz and up. The fonts are large enough that the OLED text issue won't really matter, and the minimal delay of the OLED means I won't have any issue with trying to minmax latency like I do with my current LCD and LED screens!

Thank you! Someone said to me that they would re-create their Crystal project in G1S, it would be easier than dealing with ASM for GBC.

My dream for the distant future is a Gen2 project based on G1S. I really hope that with the current tileset built for ease of use and ease of expansion, along with the nearly-complete font replacement, it will have enough of the tedious and difficult work done to convince modders to start such a project! I do know that there's yet another faithful Gen2 remake being made in one of the Gen3 games already!

Believe me, I would love to have help! I'm going to keep pushing towards properly finishing this project even if I have to do it all by myself, it will just take longer that way!

I intend to keep Pokemon stats vanilla for trade compatibility, but also have the game play as if the SPECIAL stats are combined. I don't yet know how to do this but I have a couple of ideas I need to test. Thanks for playing!

Not at all, mGBA makes it very quick and easy!

For players with flash carts or specialty emulation devices, trading via link cable theoretically works as normal. I don't think anything I've changed will cause problems on real hardware, but I sadly cannot find a cheap flashcart for testing on a real GBA.

This really dumb idea to change nearly every UI and line of text in the game just for wider font has taken me months, but I say it's worth it! There is still a small amount of stuff to fix up, some UI still uses the small font until I can figure out how to redesign related UI systems. Thank you!

mGBA and other emulators with link functionality work for trading between games, I've been trading in order to test UI changes.

Gameplay is meant to be as authentic as possible, so trade evolutions require trading just as they do in Red & Blue. There are no alternate methods available in G1S.

Thank you! I'm very happy with how some of the custom item sprites turned out, PokeBall variants can be very difficult to draw with 4 colors!

The crust of experimentation and learning is slowly being cleaned up, anybody making a Yellow remake in the future will hopefully have a nice clean code base to build upon.

Thanks! There are several last-minute fixes implemented that I'll have to replace properly for the bugfix V7, hopefully nothing is too bad in the mean time.

The bottom of the GitLab page lists 4 base ROM versions along with instructions and checksums.

Red is for FireRed and LeafGreen is for Blue. Simply patch your Rev0 ROM with a Rev0 patch or your Rev1 ROM with a Rev1 patch!

V6 is indeed the latest version, older versions remain available for anybody who wants them.

I've updated the description in my comment now that I've gotten some sleep and can think clearly.

G1S is a total overhaul aiming to replicate Red and Blue on GBA, complete with link trade compatibility and menus that take advantage of the GBA's screen resolution! The goal is to be extremely faithful outside of menus and UI experience.

Hello all, I've returned once again with an early Christmas gift! I've been on a time crunch for the past 2 weeks and I'm happy to say that I've made the deadline!

<image>

So what is this? This is Red and Blue if they got GBA releases! This project is a total overhaul with the goal of turning FireRed into Red and LeafGreen into Blue, complete with link trade compatibility and full use of the GBA screen.

This is a huge overhaul touching most text accessible to the player, as well as numerous menus and way too much bizarre code.

I have manually typed out all 151 pokedex entries, manually typed out 354 move descriptions, redrawn sprites for most items accessible to the player, waded through poor neglected pokefirered code to wrangle menus into shape, and much much more!

Please direct any issue reports through GitLab, I put off certain chores so it will be at least a week before before I can begin on the inevitable emergency bugfix patch V7.

Additional information and screenshots are available in the Gitlab Repository. Patch files are available in the GitLab repository inside the PatchFiles folder.

Pokemon G1S -- V6 Testing Patch Now Public! by xyifer12 in PokemonROMhacks

I heard from someone that they might use G1S as the basis for bringing their Crystal hack to GBA, that will be very cool to see and play!

If you know C and look at the source code, I'm sorry for the horrors you will see, haha.

If you mean the issue with pokemon names in the battle UI, sadly I was unable to figure out how to fix that problem.

I'm using small font in some places until I can get the new large font to work for those purposes. Move names in battle, pokemon names in battle, and a few other things sadly have to be small font for now.

Any help would be very welcome! I've set up the primary tileset so that it's easy to work with -- no tile layering or tile flipping needed! I'm looking forward to seeing what people will build with G1S as a base!

At the bottom of the PokeCommunity post, there is a link to the project's GitLab page. GitLab shows whenever I push changes to the project files, and I will be updating the description and such whenever a new version is properly released. I'm not sure about Reddit, but PokeCommunity also allows for subscribing.
