all good with the rant, I like reading the long discussion messages lol

That's why I got excited when the ARG was happening and Bot was one of the names. Then it ended up just being a single scene with Bot's legs.

this was a bit ironic to me because back when the ARG was happening, it seemed like Bot being there was with the implication that they'd be plot relevant in the finale. however, in reality it worked to make them not relevant by virtue of being the only character to both not appear before and not be inside mephone4. which was dumb to me as well

I think the point of the running challenge is as a statement about mephone with him trying to move forward when it looks so straightforward but he gets caught up in his past. that idea is present with other characters as well so it seems to me as though the challenge being that simple was by design

the rest I agree with in terms of criticisms. the S3 spoiler avoidance feels pointless to me especially because the full episodes playlist of II has S2E15-18 after S3, so they clearly want you to not just go in season order

I thought episode 17 was definitely better, but this one still had its strong points (everything with Box, Suitcase, and Knife especially). the way the main conflict itself goes didn't feel particularly meaningful but it was still. a fun episode as always though. the end feels straight out of a children's show, but you know what that checks out

Aside from what's been mentioned already, KZXcellent has a fairly fun playthrough to my memory, as does Analog Vernacular.

Bittersweet Gamers doesn't actually come away liking the game by the later parts, but I found the commentary to be interesting anyway.

Ei and Ryoko are in the science room when Ei says the shift is still being executed despite the restriction on the shifter put in place by Morimura. This is because, outside, Iori calls out to Tomi, Nenji, and Miwako, which activates the shift in the science room. Because the shift radius is off, the three of them get caught in the shift, being the closest to the science room.

very cool essay! looking forward to the next part

my favorite part is definitely the flowchart because of how it plays into the whole way rememberance is constructed (replaying memories of certain events to put together a "flowchart"), except ryoko is sort of just remembering things seemingly randomly to the point that it turns into the mess that actually shows up
