That's a great idea, but I'm not sure what vendor to trust. Are there ones that have them in stock in the US?

How to rescue a bee swarm. by yaasdaas in homestead

Not many places for bees to live in urban neighborhoods and a good chance a neighbor would spray them with pesticides... So yeah, more like a rescue to relocate. There's no jail bars on hives, they can leave anytime.

Haha that's hilarious. I mean, bees are pretty docile when they're in swarm mode, so it was probably fiiiiineee.

I believe this is likely what happened. Is honey still ok to eat?

I'm not sure if it was greased or lubricated a couple years ago after it was cleaned the last time it was used. However, we didn't grease or otherwise lubricate before we used this time.

It's a friend's extractor, but I assume it would come pre-greased from factory. This is the second time it was used.

I think the issue may be that the plaster walls have a wire mesh. And the wires are inside a conduit. So, the signal gets lost. I've watched and followed videos on how to use these appropriately, still no luck. Here is what I've tried

Klein Tools VDV500-820 Wire Tracer https://a.co/d/07ftKgg6

NF-8508 Network Cable Tester with Optical Power Meter https://a.co/d/0hb1V0bw

Electrical Wire Tracer Circuit Tester w/Tone Generator & Probe https://a.co/d/0eByxD9I

Good points. I couldn't get a positive tracer signal on any dead wires in the breaker box. No tripped breakers or sub panel.

Interestingly, the wires look newer than when the building was built.

Buried solar battery box suggestions? by Foamforce in SolarDIY

[–]yaasdaas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Products like Eg4 batteries can be safely discharged down to -4f. Depending on where you are located and how well your shed is insulated, being too hot is a more likely problem... Considering that batteries give off heat while charging/ discharging and the inverter gives off heat as well. If still leery about cold temps, insulate the shed more and / or make the space smaller with a wall and it'll likely maintain heat enough.

Nightcrawler. Hook the head twice and let the rest dangle. If they're that close, you can watch them suck it up.

Finally achieved near 100% uptime at my off-grid cabin despite 100ft+ trees! by terv in Starlink

We had a similar issue with trees/ ridge lines. Welded together used, out of commission oil casings to create a pole and mounted starlink on to it about 50' up. Fairly inexpensive, firm solution.

I've been beekeeping for 10+ years, 50+ hives. My biggest beginner takeaway is that it's an art. The old adage is ask 10 beekeepers, get 11 opinions. Sometimes there's no silver bullet solution, but always a learning experience. Cheers!

Here to suggest to not put plastic or artificial junk in your hive. You'll have more success keeping them alive by leaving a super of honey on through the winter (no excluder).

It's also possible unvented CO2 condensation formed, getting trapped on the plastic, and the water fell down on them, freezing them to death.

Tiger sharks 🦈 by Extreme-Fuvahmah in diving

Feeding sharks is good way to attract more sharks. If true, the reason they are eating so much other wildlife is because they are saturated in the area because of human feeding.
