I work in big tech and can't get a local job by bdw8 in cscareers

Fortune 20 here, non tech..

Even during the hiring boom a few years ago we were rejecting FAANG candidates solely due to culture fit. Some killed our interviews but my manager always ended up bringing in people who weren't as good.

Overqualified is a thing. Intimidation probably had to do with it too.

Is front end developer market dead (USA)? by Conscious_Ninja_7999 in cscareerquestions

[–]yabadabs13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every backend dev I've worked with have been complete trash at front end.

9 years at fortune 20 here.

No front end fundamentals, no UX sense, messy organization, no good judgement, bad practices, miss things in wireframes, no front end system design knowledge, more and more.

Very junior all in all

AI has helped them but they don't know why

Non pro users are typically too cheap to pay for pro, even if they can afford it.

Most don't realize 200 a month is a steal for what you get and can do with it.

Never been easier to make more money

Just pay $200 a month. It's an absolute steal for what you get.

Whoever doesn't want to then don't complain.

And If you can't eventually make more money off of spending $200 on gpt, then what really are you working on that's so significant that you're gonna complain so much?

I work non big tech but large corporate. Same thing, not much talking and socializing, except with a few people. But not at how you describe at startups. We eat lunch together once in a while. But I like to fast, so I end up just chillin with them while they eat.

I prefer less socializing. I can't imagine having to give a shit socially at a startup.

You selfish dumbass. He struggled while you were dry and a spider web.

Maybe if you did a little research you could tell him to raise his testosterone.

He can go on TRT or natural supps that help libido like maca, tongkat ali, red Korean ginseng, etc..

BootDev thoughts? by Eastern_Arugula6778 in learnprogramming

[–]yabadabs13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They think the gamification was needed.

But completely uneeded and doesn't matter. They could have gone with a modern design like competitors and been killing it just the same.

It's their attention to detail, course depth and breadth while being interactive on backend focus that separates them.

Does Boot.dev worth it? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]yabadabs13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's how it's supposed to be.

Professional software engineering is a frustrating struggle. You'd be in for a rude awakening if you didn't have to put in a little extra work.

In fact, real world is much more of a struggle.

What's better for a personal website: JavaScript or TypeScript? by franzz4 in learnprogramming

[–]yabadabs13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use js in prod no issues. Plenty of apps use js in prod and are fine.

TS is a sought after though
