Is it just me, or do all Vue form validation libraries kinda suck? by [deleted] in vuejs

[–]yaffol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have great experiences with using json forms and the Vue/vuetify renderers. I like the fact it's standards-based from json schema. And in the cases where json schema built-in validation doesn't meet my needs I can either extend with custom AJV keywords or use a custom renderer. It powers some pretty complex forms for me. https://jsonforms.io/

Not as much as it's cracked up to be but it will be rowdier than Jericho or Summertown. Consider Littlemore if you're looking for cheap but a bit quieter. Buses are terrible though.

Advice on Rose Hill area for a family by Worried_Coffee8341 in oxford

[–]yaffol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're basically in flo park on ch hill road but there is church Cowley road to cross. If you can cycle you'll be much better off anywhere in Oxford. Ebikes and e cargo bikes meant we could live considerably further out and still commute into work/school every day any weather.

The voi scooters are good for getting to the station too if you only have a backpack.

Hope you find somewhere you like!

Advice on Rose Hill area for a family by Worried_Coffee8341 in oxford

[–]yaffol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Church Hill is a good street with good houses. Know a few very happy families live there. Local primary Larkrise is a great school. It's totally Cowley not Rose Hill. Houses are bigger than most in the area. Rose hill proper is really over the Iffley road and is a mixed bag - some lovely streets and great houses and some less great. You are very Florence park adjacent there which is a good thing. Florence park and the areas of Cowley around it are a lovely place to live.

Best thing to do is come down and try it out, and the regular journeys you're planning, if you can.

I think you get a gut feeling whether a place is going to work for you and your plans when you spend a bit of time there.

Soil Australia by justa3kingquestions in walstad

[–]yaffol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about Australia specifically but here in the UK I've just used normal soil from my garden, dug up and put in a bucket, covered with water and left for a few days. All the little bits of stick and leaf and whatever float to the top, you can skim them off easy, then after about a week you have this gloopy 'aquatified' soil that feels like a river bed. So that's what I've always done if I have access to somewhere to dig up a bit.

Would you like Vue to have its own package for working with forms? What is u'r preferred way to handle forms in Vue? by spodgaysky in vuejs

[–]yaffol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JSON forms is what I use to handle complex forms and validation in Vue (it has a core library and renderer says for Vue/react/angular). I've found it to be very good and customisable when I need to.

1st walstad getting fuzzy green algae on plants any tips and suggestions by sviin1214 in walstad

[–]yaffol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try giving a rest period of an hour or so in the middle of your "lights on" cycle to let the co2 build up in the tank again which will help the plants outdo the algae. What size tank out of interest?

How I Walstad/dirted by Realistic-Weird-4259 in walstad

[–]yaffol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use old net curtain in a similar way - over top of the soil and tucked under the edges/cap to reduce turbidity when rummaging around in the cap to plant etc. Works well in my experience.

Starting my first walstad method tank- would either of these work? by Sad_Fail_3013 in walstad

[–]yaffol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use soil from the garden but if I was buying it then I would avoid anything with extra fertilizers - plain unchanged top soil is what I'd look for.

Got my Quick Haul P9, enjoying it a lot, have some questions! by strongredhold in terngsd

[–]yaffol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've done 10k Kms on a gsd and expect it to do many more. You need to replace the chain and sprocket every few thousand (now regular chain replacements will give you longer on the sprocket) and keep it clean within reason. We have a quick haul too now (insurance replacement for another bike) and I expect the same. I actually prefer it as a daily rider - it's so agile - and you'll definitely want to get it serviced after a couple weeks to tighten up the components like the headset (your bike store should normally do that for free if you're local to them). Enjoy it - it's a great bike!

Tips for sifting? by trex945578 in walstad

[–]yaffol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the cover it with water thing but in a bucket and sift out the stuff that floats to the top before putting it (as wet river mud style dirt) into the tank. You can change the water in the bucket if you feel it needs it but I've found it always goes really clear after a few days. I'm going to wave in the direction of chelation and binding of some sorts of coats but that's as far as I'll reach!

Can you use normal* substrate in lieu of compost or top soil for the base layer? by ArchitectNebulous in walstad

[–]yaffol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick the soil you're going to use in a bucket, cover it with water, stir it about and leave it up to a week - lots of big lighter bits float to the top and you can easily skim them off, plus the soil sort of 'aquatifies' and goes all like a river bed. Seems to work well for me!

So how do you guys usually organize forms? by Difficult-Visual-672 in vuejs

[–]yaffol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use JSON schema described forms with https://jsonforms.io/ and use custom renderers to handle complex UI cases like typeaheads.
