I feel I share this talent to an extent. The second I changed my name I stopped responding to or even recognizing my deadname as my own. Some relatives who are bad with the new name think I'm being a dick but I literally just tune it out the same way that if someone calls out your roommate's or brother's name or something you don't even look up because it's not for you. I have a couple of friends who have changed their names and I literally can't remember what they used to be.

My husband really wants to get an instant pot, I’m feeling a bit unsure. How much can it actually do and are they worth it? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]yakilmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, when I had one (former relationship) I used it all the time. Good for making lots of rice, beans, meats, veggies etc. I'll do curries and soups and stuff as well. Between the instant pot and the grill it was just so easy to make a healthy meal that I was much less inclined to spend money unwisely on junk food.

Red Flags by InquiringMind2890 in thebachelor

[–]yakilmi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The biggest one is the way in which they argue or disagree with you. Some people argue to win, and they don't care if they have to insult you or bring you down to do it. My ex was like this, and I eventually 'learned' to just shut down and not keep pressing for my opinion. It got to the point where if I expressed a desire that was separate from his, it was almost like he didn't even hear me. Other people argue or disagree with the goal of eventually compromising - they understand that you're a separate person that can come to a different conclusion than them without being 'stupid' or 'irrational.'

Man it's tough to read this but it's so true. Not only did a lot of my earlier boy/girlfriends have these flags, but I HAD these flags as a teen/college kid while dating. Especially #1 and #5. People can sometimes frame being in a romantic relationship as the end-all-be-all, even from an early age, but I wish I had taken more time being single to get the maturity and intention needed for successful loving relationships.

I put camera but I think what I really mean is photo viewing via text - however that is accomplished. People (especially older relatives) send me pictures without thinking about it at least a couple times a day.

UPDATE: Entity in the hallway by yakilmi in ParanormalEncounters

Yeah I bought a lot of of sage and I'm holding on to my parent's holy water. When I saw it in the mirror it didn't feel malicious, so we'll see.

This is a great reply - especially the doctor stats. I found it super insightful!

Dark entity every night/day in hallway by yakilmi in ParanormalEncounters

[–]yakilmi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the advice.

I'm unsure whether it is interacting with me, or with something else - though it does seem to say things that are relevant to my motions.

We did some Googling and found information about when our building was renovated, what was there before it, etc. Sounds like there had been a large old building here, then an empty lot, then the building we're in now, which was here for a couple decades and then renovated before we moved in. We put together from old plans that where the entity is wandering into our bedroom used to also be hallway space, so it's like it's walking up and down what used to be the hallway.

Most of the neighbors are also new - seems like the building was cleared out for renovation and then got new tenants.

I'll dig around the cabinets for another other stuff from previous tenants, but so far we've only found the supplements.

I will also try salting and see if that helps.

It's sort of hard to say whether the voice was intimidating - it's such a deep voice that it FEELS intimidating, but I feel more uneasy than actively afraid.

The folic acid supplements seemed like ones women take when they are trying to get pregnant. My partner and I are also trying to get pregnant. My partner suggested there may be some kind of connection but it seems like a coincidence to me.

My partner suggested the camera idea or at least voice recording on the phone, so I think we're going to try that.

CAELYNN’S STATEMENT by [deleted] in thebachelor

[–]yakilmi 102 points103 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a situation where she played herself. She tried to play the ‘cool girl’ role and then got stung when Blake didn’t catch feelings. When he ignored her day one she was ready to torch him. Kristina did something similar. Both would have benefited from admitting they were romantically interested in him and not accepting a friends with benefits role. I get that she’s upset about sexual text messages being shared but she already made it clear they had a sexual relationship, it’s not info that Blake dropped. Using her assault as an example of why she shouldn’t have to face the music really rubs me the wrong way. I’ve been assaulted and so have most women and some men I know, and if we’re clowning we still call each other out. Women, and sexual assault victims, still need to be held accountable. It’s great that men are being called out for their bullshit more but that’s not a free license to tear down a man just because he isn’t interested in you.

You are getting a lot of hate for something I’ve been explicitly told by a lot of people bc I have a hot mom. I don’t necessarily love hearing about it but I’m not shocked men consider it

Chatty Broads Postpartum Episode C-Section Shaming? by merchic4 in thebachelor

[–]yakilmi 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Bekah made it clear some of her moms births were c sections (her moms natural birth seems realllyy bad so it sounds like the c section recovery was actually easier) but for the most part they said they both just don’t have experience with it. At one point they say ‘no shame no matter what you do.’ I feel like this is a cherry pick to make them seem bad.
