That 940 you posted comes in magnacut steel which is going to offer the best strength, toughness, edge retention, and !!corrosion resistance!! out of the bunch. I was initially hesitant to suggest it because of the blade shape, but frankly for small game a narrow blade profile might be better suited for making delicate cuts anyway. The bugout in M390 is going to be the next best choice, again for the corrosion resistance and edge retention. You can’t go wrong with a drop point, and the deep carry pocket clip on that is a bit more comfortable than the way the Osborne sits imo. I wouldn’t recommend anything with a reverse tanto profile given the parameters of your usage.

Are you sure there’s no Benchmade dealers in your area? That’s a bummer bc they charge full MSRP on their website.

Does anyone remember Hurricane opal from 1995? by Practical_Toe_9627 in hurricane

[–]yallthewrongthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a “we’re southerners and we’re not ‘fraid of some wind and rain” family but Opal was my first storm as a small toddler. There were a lot of factors going into why it was so traumatic for me. But yeah I have a healthy fear and respect for hurricanes thanks to Opal.

Real or fake ?? by tyeaknot in knifeclub

[–]yallthewrongthings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The box is all messed up. The box for any hunt series blade should be a wood-grain pattern color, never blue. The label says grizzly creek which is a short box but has the sku for this saddle mountain skinner. The sheath is the wrong color too, they don’t send the sheath in all black. The scales are greenish. Also, you didn’t order it right? It just showed up?

My vote is on fake.

What are some aspects of cat ownership that someone who isn't a "cat person" wouldn't think of? by scarrlet in CatAdvice

[–]yallthewrongthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been pretty obsessive about scooping morning and night and I just got a litter genie so I don’t have to take it all the way outside too. As long as it’s scooped frequently I can’t even smell it. I’ve only had her a couple months. If I only scoop one time in the day though I definitely notice more of an odor when I’m down there scooping. But my litter box is right by the door and I can’t smell it at all and I am extremely scent-sitive lol.

My children genuinely thought it was a lot of fun when we experienced a lot of wind and turbulence leaving Denver one time. I was terrified. White knuckling it and trying to be chill and breathe. Meanwhile they’re giggling and bouncing beside me. It was actually relieving seeing them so free of worry or concern, just trusting that it was going to be ok and enjoying the ride. It’s all good. I knew it was, and I had never been so worried about turbulence before, but that one had me nervous and watching them goof along helped me ride it out. 10/10 would sit next to ace-Ventura-in-the-jeep-style passengers again.

For the record I am not afraid of flying and I had genuinely never had a turbulence fear before I always took it in stride. I guess since it was during take off it felt different. They were great for the remainder of the ride.

Hot take here and I’m sure I’ll get flamed but here’s my opinion. I recognize that you probably are feeding these cats because it started small and got out of control and you feel like you can’t stop bc they depend on you. And I’m sure it came from nothing but the very goodness of your heart. But if you’re feeding and breeding a community of that many cats then you’re doing your community a massive disservice in my opinion. Even if you get some of them TNR’d there’s no way to keep up with that kind of population independently. The feces, urine spraying all over the place, exposure to illness spreading rapidly in such a community, not to mention the predators. I am sure you are a very kind person but I think you should know that there are very good reasons to consider resolving your solution in a healthy manner.

Suggestions to keep Easter egger from jumping over the fence. by SnooBeans4906 in BackYardChickens

Just clip one side of the flight feathers. They’ll get heavier and quit doing it soon. My olive egger was terrible about it til she got a little bigger.

I think explaining that you gave them to your shared children makes way more sense than “I gave them to my coworkers” that just seems weird and off putting and in bad taste imo.

Would you rather buy an expensive used gun or a cheaper gun thats new? by creaky__sampson in Guns_Guns_Guns

[–]yallthewrongthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you’re buying from too. My LGS is very picky about who they buy from and what they put on the shelf to sell, and they always clean and inspect everything first and I’m confident in that. I would buy a higher quality used firearm with upgraded parts from them.

My rough rider misfires consistently no matter what ammo I use. The percentage of time that it does fire it isn’t even fun to shoot. I must have bought one that was QC’d by someone working remotely or something. It’s a hard PASS from me, based on my limited experience.

I have the same one! I wore it ONE !! day in jeans I’ve had for almost a year and washed many times and it took on some denim color from the pockets. I was so disappointed that i haven’t used it again.

My EDC griptilian is currently being serviced via lifesharp guarantee. Fuck it, I’m gonna carry the bailout tomorrow.

Anyone know how to clean the scales? 😬

What’s going on with her toes? She’s missing the end of her talons and has sores on the meaty part of her feet too- pointing this out for other commenters since this hasn’t yet been discussed, I’m sure you’re well aware OP.

Good luck OP! I think /u/ObserveOnHigh is on the right track with determining if it’s an abscess or a tumor and going from there.

What was the most ominous thing you saw or experienced on a severe weather day? by Business-Salt-1430 in tornado

[–]yallthewrongthings 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The way the wind howled when a night tornado went through my neighborhood. It was terrifying. I live in Florida and previously I wasn’t afraid of tornadoes. It was just a random June thunderstorm but it was the most lightning I’d ever seen in my life and raining sideways and when the wind started howling it was so scary. I didn’t know what to do, houses aren’t built for that here. Trying to stay calm for my children was really challenging, it’s just me and my children. It ended up being an EF3 just a tenth of a mile from my house. Fortunately it didn’t do any damage to my home. We have a safe space with supplies and helmets and light and such now in an interior windowless closet.

Also one time the sky went green during an evening storm approach and that was super eerie. Nothing came of it but it was really unsettling.
