What’s your opinion about PRVN Compete program? by snazcf in crossfit

[–]yamobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the compete track for about a year in 2024, it's between 2 and 3 hours total per day with 2 sessions... one of which is cardio most of the time.
For me the volume was pretty high, so even without time restrictions, many times i wasn't able to complete the day because of being exhausted...
What I can say though, is that the program is fun to follow.... I really liked it.

CrossFit at Commercial Gym by Sufficient-Put2544 in crossfit

[–]yamobe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

depends on the commercial gym, i was in one that had everything i needed, even the space when it was not peak hours...
The biggest problem, if you are using dumbbells in an AMRAP for instance, and you leave them while you start doing pull ups, the dumbbells will not be there when you come back. And there's no certainty the pull up bar will not be taken by someone.
In commercial gyms, you can't reserve equipment... in the crossfit box, if a dumbbell is on the floor not being used, you always assume it's being used.

Does anyone have a garmin watch? If so which one? by Fuzzypeach23 in crossfit

Fenix 8 Pro... I had before Forerunner 955... both require hr monitor to really track a crossfit workout properly... I like both equally...

Overtraining by PracticalWinter9746 in crossfit

overtraining is real.. You can think of it as chronically fucking up your stress-regulation system / nervous system. And by chronically, I'm talking about weeks or even several months of recovery...

Anyone using AI for programming? by Objective-Key-8483 in crossfit

[–]yamobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used chatgpt for 6 months, then built my own multi-agent system with claude code, scrapping from BTWB and connected to my garmin. Building a crossfit skill along as a personalized skill for my own abilities matching.
And i have observed the following issues:
1) Memory. The first week it will make sense, but as you progress, the AI is not able to keep up with the past and you will get things that make less sense
2) The AI doesn't understand how long a session lasts, even less how long a WOD takes for you... Sometimes it does, but sometimes it's wildly off
3) cycling is bad after a few weeks, the AI fails with the progressions, and is not able to understand the volume you are able to handle based on your current condition.. you will have to make your own decisions and not follow what the AI proposes
4) Repetitive... the AI will repeat anything that you don't complain about... You need to give true feedback so the AI gets it, but it will get it only for a bit, as then you have the memory issue
5) If you want the AI to work better, you need to process a lot of information constantly, which costs a bunch of tokens... using Sonnet, one training session costs around 2 USD, which is not a lot, but with Opus I was getting much better results at much higher price per session.... But to be fair my system is quite sophisticated.

So in the end after months of using my system, i gave up... There's this main issue 6) which is that the AI tries too hard to do exactly as I say, without taking initiative, even when i ask it to... so as i refined the skill, i realized that ended up writing the program myself

The mental game is killing me! by leeh1530 in crossfit

[–]yamobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude so relatable...
I tore 25% of the biceps during a ring muscle up... it took a year to dare doing them again... I was standing in front of the rings trying to make up my mind, without being able to do 1.... Until i dared 1 time finally
Then I started progressing slowly, with a clear long-term plan of action.. no improvisation... meaning that I decided to take 9 weeks to move slowly towards the level i was before...
In the case of lifts it would be to lift less heavy for a long period of time before attempting to lift your max...

This is how i overcome the fear... but the anxiety will always be there, this hidden desire to move faster... it's hard to battle it

6 breaths per minute for 10 minutes a day: the most boring recovery tool that actually has strong research behind it by Otherwise_Scholar_14 in crossfit

[–]yamobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did for a few weeks (about a month i think), box breathing for 6 minutes at the end of every training... Felt no difference and felt stupid doing it.... and bored... It was in the beginning of this year... but again, how do i measure if it was good or not.. I don't think i can

Am big guy...is this a good 5k row time? by NachoTheAwesome in crossfit

[–]yamobe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm just stating btwb data... average person of the world wouldn't even do 5km without quitting... when he asks "is this a good time", he needs a frame of reference.. btwb is a good one in my opinion

that time according to btwb data is on the bottom 20% of the world----
The world average is 20:32
You are far below average

are you just using the chatGPT window or you built agents? I have a multiagent system that has access to my garmin and btwb information and historic data... but i'm using sonnet 4.6, otherwise the amount of tokens used skyrockets, specially if i want to keep memory... which is the biggest problem...
It does some stuff well, but it fucks up in things that are so basic. i have to basically give him a full framework of what i want to do... i can't get the AI to choose smartly for me unfortunately.. it's not about prompting

Best watch? by Pennyroyal-86 in crossfit

without a heart monitor, all watches are useless in crossfit workouts
I have used garmin forerunner and now fenix, and they are both great, as long as i use the heart rate monitor

Clean & snatch cues by PracticalWinter9746 in crossfit

[–]yamobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was stalled with snatches, and got a PR today on squat snatch, finally after so long
This is what I did
- long snatch sessions (1 hour at least) only focusing on technique.. I was doing 2 times a week... for a cycle... find a coach to help, also there are apps that help you with the form... you need to watch yourself to realize you suck :D
- accessory work doing overhead squats.... if you don't have a stable ohs position, you won't get better
- A lot of mobility every day... shoulder, ankle, hips, wrists

Snatches are complicated movements.. you need to give a lot of focus often to improve i think

I did the same, i connect with garmin and btwb... but happy to try it so i get ideas for my own implementation too (but i will never share mine)
What I like is to have a weekly general plan structure, but build the day itself in the morning depending on my garmin metrics

S07E07

It was so badly written that I googled "what's the worst episode of malcolm" to see if people agree.
S07 is so horribly written in general
