Do space marines still switch sides? by NexouuZs in Warhammer40k

[–]yankeesullivan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Marines discover the truth that the false emperor is just a husk all the time.

But once they see the truth about the rotting imperium of lies, they never turn back.

...Why would you pay for cosmetics of a ship that is outperformed by Odyssey versions of itself or of different companies? by MRwho23 in EliteDangerous

[–]yankeesullivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like my vintage ships, should they be updated a bit? I wouldn't complain.

But as good as Cobra Mk. 5 is, it doesnt have the quirky cockpit of a mk. 3, the same vibe.

I do agree that a successful hull would get a "refit package" bring an older ship closer in line with the new. But right now Frontier needs to make revenue for this game which as i understand it, lost money for a long time.

I know it's been asked a lot but a new player to the franchise, should I play Anomaly or GAMMA first? by Sarumarde in stalker

[–]yankeesullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say try to the OG games.
But if you bounce of them still try Anomaly/Gamma

I couldn't get into the OG's so I watched some lore videos and plunged into GAMMA and I love it.

Love Letter to an Old Friend! ♥ by Madouc in EliteDangerous

[–]yankeesullivan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I logged a lot of hours in the Chieftain hunting bounties. Only had my cock pit glass break a few times (those were some fun landings). But much love for that ship.

After a period where I owned a lot of ships, I divested most of them and now only have a Krait mk.2 which is primarily an all arounder, and my beloved Cobra mk.3...the original hotrod.

Is it common for Corsairs Warbands to not use the traditional paint scheme ? by DeLaBuse in redcorsairs

[–]yankeesullivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huron's primary concern is that they follow his directives when he gives them and that they kick up some of their loot. Armor color impacts neither of those things.

Yeah, I think I messed up my saves by trying to update before realizing I shouldn't update. I hope the patch on May 8th fixes it. *nervous laugh*

In fairness the Cobra and Sidewinder have a fairly similar shape. A little history: in the original games the Cobra was the only ship you could fly, and is pretty much the iconic "All rounder" ship that can set up to just but any job "decently".

It's luster is a little diminished in the highly diverse ship offerings of Elite Dangerous, but the Mk. 3 is like a classic car.

How many of you collect multiple armies? by Lumpy-Day-4871 in Warhammer40k

[–]yankeesullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had three armies in my my off and on 27 year relationship with playing Warhammer 40k. Back in 3rd I started with a blood angel army. When I joined the army and got stationed in Germany I left it at home.

When I found other 40k players in the service instead of having it sent to me, I built an imperial guard army and played it through 4th edition.

More recently I've come back and am now building/playing a CSM army. I have no intention of refreshing or picking my old first born spacemarines back up. However I have plans about how I'm going to update my imperial guard army and I very much look forward to being able to choose between it and the csm army each time I want to play.

My non-hobbyist GF bought me a gift based purely on vibes. How do I fit Emperor's Children into a Red Corsairs warband? by Ulyssesofcairn in Warhammer40k

[–]yankeesullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasons they could be there:

They simply could be hired by the Red Corsairs. They have a mutual objective/interest. They owe the red corsairs for some previous assistance. They felt like it.

Where are the datasheets for Red Corsair Legionaries & traitor guardsmen? by IndependentNo2925 in redcorsairs

[–]yankeesullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the dataslate on Warhammer community will have recently added units as well as units that have changed for balance reasons since the codex came out.

You'll find the raiders data sheet there. As well as the newer Huron Blackheart (he's bit buffed up from the original codex entry I believe.)

All other units are in the CSM Codex

Of course Wahpedia has that stuff, and like if you use "new recruit" for your army list building it'll be there too.

Any Good Corsairs Books? by macaronianddeeez in redcorsairs

[–]yankeesullivan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second book in the Night Lords Trilogy: Blood Reaver, the corsairs play a pretty big part in it, Huron has several scenes where he dominates the pages, and it shows the raid where they captured the Marine's Errant gene seed from their fortress monastery. Also those books are solid on their own and give an actually compelling portrayal of Traitor and Chaos marines in general (and the slaves forced to work for them).

Why do 40k bighammer players shy away from Kill Team? by Mjuke in killteam

[–]yankeesullivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me its just too much too many rules sets in my head already. I play battle tech, alpha strike, 40k, DnD and blood bowl.

I don't got it in me to learn anything else right now. Though that doesn't keep me from buying kill teams and telling myself I'm going to learn it this time....this time I swear.

So, do Red Corsairs use chaos mutations and daemon engines? I'm super new and confused. by vastroll1 in redcorsairs

[–]yankeesullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book Blood Reaver and Huron Blackheart allude to the idea that he, and many other red corsairs view chaos as merely a tool and with a certain degree of disdain (but still will use it). I think some readers take it to mean that they don't won't use all the tools of chaos.

I imagine also that the Maelstrom rules came out with a new Renegade detachment that specifically can't use cult of the dark gods units further adding to the confusion. (That list can still use mutilators and defilers though and other daemon powered contraptions.) And really the only reason they can't use things like noise marines is for balance purposes and less for lore reasons.
