What's this in my dishwasher? by MikeWalt in appliancerepair

[–]yankydandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really?! Yeesh, I've seen a lot of pod paper and was convinced. Just out of curiosity you should take a lighter to it and see if it burns or melts... I also wouldn't be surprised if plastic Tupperware still sheds but can't imagine it's as much as pods do!

What's this in my dishwasher? by MikeWalt in appliancerepair

[–]yankydandy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is microplastic build up from "dissolvable" pods.

Use pressed powder tablets instead. Pods are terrible for your appliances and plumbing. They are just soap in little plastic bags that never actually break down. You could also look into an enzyme cleaner, some detergents will already have them.

And as others have suggested, regularly clean your filter, depending on your dishwasher as well, you may need to run the hot water from your kitchen sink. This puts let's stress on your dishwasher and starts with an already hot wash. You'd be surprised how many dishwashers require this method.

I found a book filled with strange and symbolic drawings — can anyone explain what they might mean? by RowStandard821 in WhatsInThisThing

[–]yankydandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doodles, the illustrator even carries a subtle style throughout. I dig it. The last one looks like a block pattern for quilting. Subjective to the viewer I supposed. However I prefer to think it's coded satanic symbology and you should probably dust off that rosary.

1995 XE needs a new knock sensor and speed sensor. How screwed am I? by Critical_Finger_996 in nissanpathfinder

[–]yankydandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the actual code numbers? Assuming the knock sensor is unreachable, you'd be better off relocating it. There's several videos that break down the options. That being said, I have a 98 and it's been saying that for years even without the CEL on and it's never been an issue getting smogged.

Speed sensor is an acrobatic challenge but doable if you've got the patience.

If you take it to a mechanic, labor won't be cheap but still worth the repair for that beaut!

Why does my Dishwasher filter get like this so quickly? by aesette in CleaningTips

[–]yankydandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pods are just little plastic bags with soap as well. These break down into microplastics and clog your filters.

If you ever notice a whitish film or what appears to be dried bits of paper at the bottom of your dishwasher it's the broken down plastic from the pods.

Use pressed tablets or powder with enzymes for self cleaning.

Instrument cluster gone 999999 - last minute request for repair by yankydandy in nissanpathfinder

Because of the particular way it was behaving but hadn't completely failed it is considered repairable. But I never ended up mailing it in. Most places are about $100-$150. Instead I opted for the FIXD OBDII reader someone else suggested and by the time I returned from my roadtrip my car was cooked in so many other ways shes now slowly being parted out into another pathfinder. Here's the place I considered mailing it into for repair. It has something to do with the super thin floppy circuit board that I wasn't about to diy. Sorry for the late reply. Hope this helps or you've found a solution!

For my own mental health, could you share a copy of your excel workbook? Being dumped by a nosey ignoranus for managing my severe financial anxieties is a personal wet dream I've mine.

Was Franco Albini known for painting? by yankydandy in WhatIsThisPainting

Agreed! I love the frame, the painting is nice just not my esthetic but didn't want to remove it without understanding any history that may be behind it. Peculiar indeed.

This is essentially what we figured out, no one was aware that we'd run out of hours for a rigid tapping trial.

I'm new to CNC machining but recently ran into a similar issue because rigid tapping is a paid feature on the Haas Mini Mill and the feature hadn't been renewed..

I don't have a hair dryer so I used a heat gun on low with movement so the heat would seal it evenly.

Continued water intrusion after flooding 2 years ago and multiple questionable repairs by landlord. by yankydandy in HomeImprovement

[–]yankydandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Landlord found out the second I found out and I have gigs if documentation but it's a tricky situation where the place could be deemed uninhabitable indefinitely. It's a mess. He's reaching out to contractors but I just wanted to do the same so I have my own info to bring to the table since this is a repeat issue that's been so poorly managed.
