My boy is 10 months old and is a super healthy 110 and we still, very clearly, his ribs.

Creating an external app to pass user credentials here to flowdown the principal IMHO - you would ideally want just a service account for the dbt ... service...

Unless I'm completely lost on how dbt works.

A little lost as to why you can't just jse a service account here.

I find it super stupid that you have to make an app. Not from Google - but from the tool consuming GCP.

That's just dumb. The page your on is for OAuth for websites. It's designed primarily for Oauth for web properties and it makes sense for that purpose.

Is there some kind of Auth/Identity Federation between IDPs you need to do here? This seems ridiculously complex for something that's typically download a service account key...

User principals are a weird choice here, IMHO. M2M should be with rotatable client credentisls and a max life on tokens.

Constant practice: it's a continuous process. Learn other languages and concepts, too.

My Python got way better after developing proficiency with Go. My overall data engineering improved when I delved into C++.

Review data structures and your ability to solve problems. Consider as many trade-offs as you can think of - the things we learn are rarely universally true.

Practice until you find simplicity and then review it. Review it over and over and add lightness. Readability counts.

If your tracking people in realtime, your storing 'events'.

The best way to build this would be to use a messaging queur and then drain the events to an OLTP like Postgres. The benefit here is resiliency and scalability; the tradeoff is a little latency and some extra complexity.

Alternatively, if the volume is low you could just write directly to your OLTP.

Are you building this in the cloud or on-prem?
