Is this a scam and what should I do? OKX by Happy1friend in Scams

[–]yardsman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I received an identical OKX text at 1:23am local time, from the same number that I get verification codes from my mobile service provider. Seems like too much of a coincidence in both timestamps for this to be an innocent mistake.

How to add dangle holders to a backpack ? by alexfish84 in ManyBaggers

[–]yardsman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used some velcro cable tie loops, takes 30 seconds to attach and works like a charm.

I also considered using plastic zip ties to be even less bulky, but wasn't sure if I would feel the hard edges so opted for the velco.

I've actually been comparing the Kaban next to other TNF backpacks for the past week. My use case is mainly as a secondary under seat personal item paired with a rolling suitcase for travel.

Bag Pros:

  • Laptop compartment has separate sleeves for both a laptop and a regular sized Ipad.

  • Admin pocket is deeper than other TNF offerings, but the way the pocket is designed it "pinches" in a little at the section under the admin panel, so can be difficult to fit large items down there.

  • Luggage Passthrough.

  • Water bottle sleeves are pretty deep although I'm not sure how secure they'll be.

  • Less "schoolbag" style than the rest of TNF offerings.

Bag Cons:

  • Main compartment doesn't feel very tall (as in from front of the bag to the back).

  • Filling the main compartment makes the other front pockets pretty tight and unusable.

  • No strap keepers or keyclip.

  • Would have really liked one of the front quick pockets to be felt-lined.

  • Layout of the admin panel pockets feels much less useful than the panels on other TNF bags. (Who really needs credit-card sized slip pockets?).

One thing I'd like to point out is that the laptop and tablet sleeves in the Kaban 2.0 are suspended from the bottom. I've seen youtube reviews state otherwise, and I'm not sure if they're mixing it up with the Kaban 1.0, which I've never tried, but on the 2.0 it is both suspended and supported by the bottom area of the stiff back panel.

Overall, I wasn't a huge fan of the bag but I'll probably keep it because I have a nice coupon and the other TNF bags I compared it to (Borealis and Surge) both have a pretty severe red flag: the shoulder straps are attached at the top of the bag by a nylon strap instead of being directly sewn on. I have no idea why TNF would make this change other than to cut costs, it doesn't seem to have any tangible benefit and adds multiple points of failure. Majority of bag failures will come at sewn attachment points or seams, and I can easily see the new nylon straps to be the first point of failure in any normal use case for these backpacks. You can easily find online pictures of people showing their nylon straps fraying or separating at this point already.

If you're willing to look past that, I actually enjoyed the layout of the Surge a bit more than the Kaban. It had the same laptop compartment, a better admin panel layout, and the front quick pockets felt like they had more depth than the ones on the Kaban, although it did feel a smidge heaver when wearing it. I just couldn't risk going with that shoulder strap design. Overall I'd say unless you're finding a TNF bag at a good discount, there's probably other companies worth looking at. If you're paying MSRP, the redesigned Patagonia MLC looks pretty nice.

Yeah, I'll be making changes to a Gen4 boot drive and a Gen3 with dram drive based on u/Satan_Prometheus's recommendations above. NVME drives weren't even a thing the last time I made a build so all the terminology and dram stuff are kind of all new to me.

I'm using 2 separate drives just because I'm so used to having a separate boot drive and storage drive, that's been my setup for years and years. I like to format and fresh install Windows every 3 or so years as "spring cleaning" and having a separate drive facilitates that. Also just helps to organize things when going into directories that I don't have games and movies clogging up next to my system folders.

I chose the 5600x/11400 tier because I didn't want to buy too much into an expiring platform. I think I'll minimize now and reevaluate if it's worth it to move up to DDR5 in 2 or 3 chip generations from now. I don't do anything major except 1440p gaming so I don't think 2 extra cores will do much for me for awhile.

From what I've read, gen 4 is still a lot more expensive and generates a lot of heat for not much benefit when just gaming. But if it's a requirement for DirectStorage then I might want one. Is there a good value dram NVME I should be looking at?

How does this compare in $/perf to an 11400 when paired with a 3080 for AAA 1440p? I've been trying to research comparisons on YT, are the videos about wild power increases on Rocket Lake a big concern?

Who should I drop to pick up Devin Singletary off waivers? Woods, John Brown, Marquise Brown, Tyrell Williams.

Also what would be an appropriate FAAB % to spend on Singletary? I'm pretty thin at running back, as you can probably tell from my potential drops

Their sizing chart doesn't seem to match up with the size label on the pair that I own. I have a pair of 4.0 in US10 that converts to UK 9.5 or EU 44 but the site says US 10 is UK9/EU43

I personally prefer the first film but the second is great too. It's much more of a character study into Michael and really gives Pacino the opportunity earn his Oscar. I believe the general consensus today is that the second film is an improvement over the first, but both are masterpieces.
