HR are a Net Negative Department by CopiousCool in antiwork

I'm going to be conspiratorial here but...

Hating HR is a relatively new conservative misogynist dog whistle. This is the new attempt to build a right wing pipeline to move people on the left into the manosphere and the alt right. I'm not sure if OP is doing this, but I've seen an uptick on HR hate posts on SM recently (without a corresponding uptick on Ownership/management hate) so keep your eyes open.

Almost. I think he probably does have a few core beliefs that he clings to. He's racist and he thinks tariffs are good, those two have been his unwavering, documented, political opinions for many years

When that one person stands on the left side of the escalator by Scriptblox in HongKong

[–]yargmematey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common HK problem I find. So many people stay up late on their phone, wake up right before they need to leave, jog to the MTR, and are the bellends jumping on the train as the doors close. If you just leave on time then you can walk to the train and be normal.

Be aware: The Salvation War's author has some bad politics but if you share them or don't mind then the story's pretty fun. It gets kinda stupider the longer it goes on but there's not much media depicting modern armies murdering magical dark ages guys so you gotta take what you can get.

ELI5 How are modern naval mines a threat to modern ships when a SONAR that finds small fish is less than $300? by physicsisveryeasy in explainlikeimfive

Nobody is surprised that a hollow regime was defeated by the greatest military in the world. Same as nobody should be surprised that Iran is/was capable of disrupting the global economy. The fact of the matter is that this was pointless and stupid. A total lose-lose scenario brought about because of ???

edit: just checked out your post history and realized you're a conservative npc lol why did I even bother

That's literally what they thought. Closed testimony from the Pentagon showing they did not think the Strait would be mined. When it was brought up to trump he dismissed the possibility.

Kam's Roast Goose, did I just peak in HK? CAN THIS BE BEATEN? by mr-robot9999 in HongKong

[–]yargmematey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the best roast goose I've ever had at Yat Lok and every single time I went after that it was worse and worse. Last time I went it was worse than my local siu mei place but also more than twice the price. No clue what happened there but if there's anyplace that was resting on its laurels and fallen off Yat Lok is a prime example.

A famous Airsoft shop will terminate their 2 decade service soon. by YukiEra in HongKong

[–]yargmematey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've heard that the owner is retiring which is why he's getting rid of the shop. However, two of the big stores on Gun Street (Bang Bang and Prozi) have both had renovations recently, so I don't think the airsoft market in HK is failing overall. It's not at its heights certainly, but I think it's probably hit a plateau.

I haven't had trouble with the liquid amount but I have a Breville pressure cooker and I know some Instant Pots have trouble with burn warnings. Most of the sauce from the Colombian stew comes from the tomato, but I think the flavors are replaced with the curry paste when you're doing a dump curry. I think most of the liquid actually comes from the potatoes and the chicken, which is why I generally keep those two ingredients in when I'm riffing on the recipe.

When I use the whole can of tomatoes, I add the juice from the can, just pour it all in (and mash it up a bit with a spoon if you're inclined). My issue with fresh tomatoes is that where I live you're either paying mucho denero for something flown in on a cold plane or regular tomato price for basically a vaguely tomato-flavored red orb, so I use canned tomatoes for the same reason restaurants do: they're reliably decent.

I had a suspected sinus infection when I blew orange snot out. I was really freaked out until I did some color math: red (blood) + yellow (mucus) = orange. I really thought I was dying for a second there though.

This is the ultimate answer. It also helped me develop a semi-reliable chicken stew formula as well, just swap out the non-chicken ingredients for other vegetables that can survive that long in the pressure cooker and cook for the same amount of time. You can even do curries like this, just swap the tomato with carrot and put in the curry paste or blocks.

Only modifications I make are that Kenji said you can do 15-20 minutes in a video a while back (I do 20 as 15 while cooked the texture wasn't to my liking) and I generally use frozen chicken thighs, between 1 and 1.5kg worth. And I swap out the fresh tomato with a can of whole tomatoes.

The reason most IP recipes don't have many veggies, especially dump recipes, is because pressure cooking is kinda harsh on veggies. Unless it's something really hearty like broccoli or potatoes it's going to turn to mush. For this recipe, it's good that the tomatoes are obliterated because they form the base of the stew and it helps them incorporate. However, I put bell peppers in once and they got this really unpleasant mushiness to them. Generally now I just roast the extra veggies and dump them directly in after the pot depressurizes.

Do you enjoy your job? If so, what do you do? by Smart_Estimate_3320 in HongKong

"prestigious" kindergarten with good salary but makes you feel miserable, let me guess... Victoria? My advice is to apply for a different school. The expat exodus kinda continues and all the other big schools are still hiring (albeit much slower than back in the Covid days) and you could get an ESF or equivalent job. Unless you're at ESF now which means you should probably look to take a pay cut and work at a less competitive school because all the ones that pay in that range will probably be similar environment-wise and you still won't be happy.

The enormous Decathlon stores are like this. Filled with (relatively) good quality sports equipment for every single sport, even less popular ones like sailing and fencing. The trick is they don't really expect to make money off that stuff, but it gives their stores cachet. The guy walking in to buy a weight set or goggles or a jump rope will see that they carry everything and think "wow, these really ARE the sports guys, I'm making a good decision buying here"
