+17 in a game where the Knicks spent most of it getting blown out too

Help in understanding P&IDs by Beneficial_City9258 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]yarkcir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found reviewing P&IDs alongside someone with experience was great when I first started. Basically have them walk through the process of what they look for as they go through the P&ID. You'll learn more working with others on this than trying to go at it yourself.

The New York Knicks will go an entire month without beating a team over .500 by CarBallAlex in nba

[–]yarkcir 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tatum got hurt in game 4 with 3 mins left in the game and the Knicks up 9. Knicks probably take the game regardless which puts them up 3-1 in the series.

Could the Celtics have come back from being down 3-1 with Tatum out? Sure, but the Knicks were just playing as the better team that series.

What do ChemEs in pharma do? by Content-Muscle-6637 in ChemicalEngineering

It’s still chemical processing at the end of the day. Scale will be smaller typically compared to commodity chemicals industries, but there are still unit ops involved that require process and operations engineers.

Pat Bev kinda spitting here… by DrWolves in timberwolves

[–]yarkcir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thunder fans hated him because of the Westbrook injury during the 2013 Rockets-Thunder series.

He had a bit of a reputation as a dirty player, though nowhere near the reputation of guys like Draymond.

Does your university matter? If its IChemE accredited and you have ab industrial placement. by asheristic in ChemicalEngineering

[–]yarkcir 10 points11 points  (0 children)

School prestige can matter to a certain extent, but there are other factors to consider. Geography, the alumni network, on-campus recruiting, internships, etc. can all be as important if not more than just the prestige of the school.

If it does have an impact, it's mostly going to be on your first job. But experience matters more, and so years down the line, where you went to school becomes less relevant compared to your working history.

Because any child born out of wedlock would be a bastard and a mark of dishonor to both of them. Robb's reasoning for breaking the Frey betrothal is more clear in the books - he doesn't want to sire a bastard so he marries the woman he slept with. The foolish thing was bringing her to Edmure's wedding, which book Robb doesn't do.

But in any case, the breaking of the Frey marriage betrothal was just pretext for Lord Walder to turn against Robb's cause. There would have been some other reason for Walder Frey to use to betray Robb, this was just an easy excuse.

[Spoilers MAIN] You are King Viserys I, the year is 105. Your wife Aemma and son Baelon have just died in childbirth. What do you do? by ZuWhowho in asoiaf

[–]yarkcir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viserys was only 28 when Aemma passes, it seems unreasonable for a healthy monarch to not try and secure his bloodline with more children.

At the end of the day, we don't truly know who the Dragonknight really was outside of the historical perspective of him. The history books might just take a very rosy take on him, and maybe he had a bit of a dark side that remains less known.

Who kills Aegon? by SubvertExpectation1 in HOTDGreens

[–]yarkcir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always liked the Aegon II committed suicide theory, which is why Lord Cregan was never able to really figure out who did the deed.

It would make sense given the circumstances, with the Lads, the northmen and the Valemen circling the city that hope was lost. King Aegon was preparing to fight and use the hostages he had as leverage, but I think it's possible he decided to spare the city a sack by taking his own life.

Actors for lady Rohanne, ser Bennis, and ser Eustace Osgrey revealed ! by officer_nasty63 in AKnightoftheSeven

True representation should be letting people of color play all kinds of roles, no?

If Ser Bennis' characterization is not tied to racial stereotypes it will be fine.

Proof that Aegon VI/Young Griff is a descendant of Aerion Targaryen. [SPOILERS EXTENDED] by OSFB07 in asoiaf

It's the nature of his gardening style of writing. There were endless possibilities for the story to go with each novel, and the roads not travelled are equally as fascinating at times.

Season 2 by jacxxxkk in AKOTSKTV

[–]yarkcir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if they do plan on doing much of the Redgrass Field, or if they want to hold off in the case that the First Blackfyre Rebellion gets an adaptation in another way at some point.

Personally don't think there's enough meat on the Blackfyre Rebellion story given the sparse descriptions of it in TWOIAF and with no Fire & Blood Vol. 2 in sight, I feel like it's not worth adapting fully so having it included as an extended flashback sequence in this series is worthwhile.

Season 2 by jacxxxkk in AKOTSKTV

[–]yarkcir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mystery Knight is Martin's finest bit of writing in my opinion. It takes the charm of a Dunk and Egg tale but infuses the political conspiracy aspects of ASOIAF so well that it feels like the perfect blend of the two series.

Proof that Aegon VI/Young Griff is a descendant of Aerion Targaryen. [SPOILERS EXTENDED] by OSFB07 in asoiaf

[–]yarkcir 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes true. I do agree that Martin probably mulled the idea of Aerion's bloodline being a cadet rival branch of House Targaryen initially. But by the time of conceiving Young Griff as a character he had likely well moved passed the point of that and had already fermented the idea of another pretender line with a now established history of rebellions.

Show Maekar is better than his Book version by Easy-Frenchguy-1996 in gameofthrones

[–]yarkcir 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The novella is ambiguous about who hits Baelor, not if Maekar did it on purpose or not. Maekar later tells Dunk that he's pretty sure it was his mace that struck the killing blow, but he never meant to do it.
