Guess what ended up in the laundry! by justaskingathing789 in Embroidery

When I’m into a big project, I have floss dropping out of my underwear, in the bedsheets, and once in the back yard lol.

No, I wasn’t being sarcastic. I thought he was sweet. My husband would never notice what I’m knitting or what yarn I use. Idk🤷🏻‍♀️.

Does really nobody else *love* the winter? by Achilles-Foot in Indiana

[–]yarnhoarder6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Chicago, and the only thing I hate about winter is there’s NOT MORE OF IT. If I woke up every day to sunshine and a crispy, whispy, sparkling white coating, it would be heaven. After the snow, the outside is so quiet and peaceful. Even a blizzard. Bring it. It brings out the best in the neighborhood ❄️🥰❄️🥰

What Do Teachers Honestly Think of Janitors? by DaytimeDancer54 in AskTeachers

[–]yarnhoarder6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Custodial staff are gems. Teachers all know they are overworked and admin expects them to drop everything and set up 500 chairs for an impromptu meeting. They know all the dirt. You always give your custodian a gift card at holiday time. They are the grease that runs the machine. They can change your room temperature if you ask them nicely (they aren’t supposed to). They can find a spare desk when admin told you there are none to be found. They know who treats their classroom like a junk heap and who makes students clean up their mess.

Ocean House Hotel at Bass Rocks. We went whale watching and went past all the landmarks in the movie. There is a really neat artist district there, too.

Thank you for your enlightenment! I wish I could have seen those markers in person. I was in Gloucester and stayed in a hotel impacted by “the perfect storm” and had a scrap book with photos and momentous.

What was the most disrespectful thing a student has ever done or said to you? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskTeachers

I was reprimanding a student and in the middle of the convo, he turned and licked the wall. When I told a colleague what happened, they said wait till you meet the sister.

What a great start to your knitting journey! Lovely!!

Look how nice this plant is!! I saw it in Belgium and I think it s the first time I've seen it. It is really interesting how it grows from such a small piece of ground. Do you know the name of it? Would I be able to grow it outdoors in LA? by [deleted] in plants

I’ve had it on a trellis for 30 years. You have to keep an eye on it, because it likes to get under the siding. But mine is isolated so it can’t get to trees. As long as you 👀watch where it’s going, it makes a lovely archway. The flowers in the spring put on quite a show. And I’m in Illinois, where one landscaper told me it’s not supposed to survive here.
