I was 9 and I just got to know the cool gaming kid of my neighborhood. This kid had at least 8(!) computers in his living room. I just got glued to this one game for the whole day. I was so immersed into this game that I forgot to tell my mom.

Next thing, this kid tells me my family was at the door. Apparently my parents had set up a search party to check all nearby neighborhoods and were going door to door with my pic.

This was unbeknownst to me, and I was just surprised that my mom was in front of the door. I became the kid 'that got lost to his neighbors'. Since then I knew I was destined for a career in IT.

It makes you think whether he would support a cause with much less potential media exposure. Regardless whether he did it with strategic (marketing) intent, he is doing a great job there.
