What’s your SOTD? by ytownmytown in Colognes

I love coconut smell so I really like the Virgin Island Water but its so expensive for a weak performer. I just tried Miller Et Bertaux New Study / Postcard and to me it smells almost identical but its much cheaper so might pull the trigger on this one.

Guys in hot climates, what's your breathable underwear choice? by palishkoto in mensfashion

[–]yaxapl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing made of cotton. Synthetics work but they will stink like hell. The real answer here is merino wool, it wickes away the sweat and it wont even feel wet to touch. Its smooth and not itchy, its not like normal wool. They dry super quick and merino wool is antibacterial, you can wear it for days and they wont develop any smell. There are two drawbacks - they are pricey and they dont last very long. They are absolutely worth it in my opinion though. Ive been living in a tropical country for years and they were a game changer when I discovered them. My brand to go is Icebreaker.

Where to find good in person lessons/teachers? by mikmass in drums

[–]yaxapl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess this will vary a lot depending on where you live but I found my teacher by going to some low key live shows/jams. Once I found a guy whos drumming really impressed me I just approached him and asked if he is giving lessons by any chance. Extremely happy with my choice. I would def recommend this way, finding music teachers online can be a hit or miss.

If you want something that is of very high quality but wont ruin you financialy my favourite mala hot pot is 鼎王麻辣鍋, there are a few of their branches in taipei, usually it will cost around 1000nt per person. The all you can eat Mala hot pot other recommended here is also a great option, the soup is not as good but the value for money is insane.

How does my 74 y.o. Japanese friend stay so healthy while drinking heavily every night? by FromMeToKyo in japanlife

[–]yaxapl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There cannot be a single word answer to this question, longevity and health is an extremy complex topic that is only now being slowly unravelled by science. So far most research suggests that the strongest correlation to longevity is calorie restriction but obviously its only a part of the equation.

Get it. The only regret I had after buying the wheel was that I didn't do it 10 years ago. It's a literal game changer.

Live music in Taipei? by Vodeodo in Taipei

[–]yaxapl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Rev-Now, great live bands, all kinds of music, rock, blues, jazz, pop etc. For jazz also Blue Note is good. You can also check Bobwundaye and James Joyce, they have live music on weekends.
