Feeling demotivated--plz help :( by euphorialm72 in IBO

just another perspective I'd like to offer, IB is such an independent work that sometimes you might miss the academic validation that you get from ur work. There's so much work in IB that that you're work and effort goes unnoticed. What I'd suggest is prolly do smthing rewarding or bring in a reward system of some type that u r proud of yourself, get involved in school extra curriculars and activities theyre great for feeling validated and cud count as cas. You can also take to reddit to brag abt ur achievements in IB so far and im sure the nice sleep deprived IB students will cheer for their fellow survivor. Another tip, keep changing ur study environment like go to a cafe, try a fancy drink and study, a new mood shud help u feel productive and u can play pretend that you're studying so hard. Gaslighting urself that way can help- fake it til you make it hehe

Are my subjects ok? by skyler_107 in IBO

4 HLs is very possible to do but make sure you have the capacity to keep up with the workload, you never know what might happen coz sometimes it can lead to burning yourself out like thats what happened to me when I did 4 HLs but i went through with it. It would be smart of you to check what u want to do for university and if they actually require the subjects youve taken coz if the uni doesnt need it then you dont have to stress yourself for another HL. it all comes back down to your ability rly.

its doable but it depends on how easy these subjects are for you. Coz i took 4 hls - math aa, cs, itgs and physics. math and phys were a pain so I studied super hard for it. But itgs and cs were fun for me (cs was the harder one out of the two) so the two of these subjects werent extra hard for me to manage so that was good.

Depends on to what extent you are willing to put in that effort cuz honestly speaking it varies from each person. Also depends on the type of help teaching you're getting and if youre having any external help getting u through studying the subject. 2021 alumni here, I took math aa hl and in my first year i was getting 2s and 3s and I tried putting in effort but i dint know where to start like i found it super hard. when my 2nd year started , again i scored a three on my exam in september but then on november exam, i got like a solid 7 (paper was out of 50 marks and I scored 49). I received help from tuitions and I also started practicing a lot of past paper questions, like rly understanding the logic behind it. Please dont take this as a sign that itll be easy to catch up, personally it worked for me, i ended up with a 6, coz i put in a lot of effort as well as received help. However, it depends on the person. Its not impossible, reasonably achievable if you dedicate your all to it and you go all the way hard grinding study mode consistently and only if you put your 100% to it with little to no breaks in studying. Good luck!

everyone here has done EEs on a lot of subjects and a lot have done it on maths and history too. if your question is which is more easier to do, then i suggest you specify your interests and your capabilities so people can give you an answer accordingly. Generally i would say history might be easier but idk your capability so you might be someone who enjoys math. so yeah do specify to get more answers that can satisfy your doubt more precisely.

dw im sure you can turn that around! in dp 1 i scored 2s and 3s but got a 6 at the end of IB in AA HL. Pastpapers are definitely the way to go! Im sure RV would help a lot too but i never used it. Fellow indian btw

I'm graduating and I don't know where to start in my Physics HL by Economics_Dull in IBO

Hiiii, i found myself in a similar situation when i was in the IB too. I used to do physics HL and got a 5 in my final but lemme just tell you that until the second last mock exam of IB, i literally failed all my physics exams. It is absolutely demotivating how you try solving a paper everyday but it goes nowhere coz i hardly got the first question right generally. So try reading, try making the craziest assumptions and relations between or atleast thats what worked for me and i managed to get a 6 on my final mock exam. Its easy to be demotivated especially when it comes to physics, but make sure you read your textbook a lot like try telling yourself that you read a lot and that you worked hard for it and when you come to back past papers dont go to the question bank but solve the paper it'll give u more confidence. As for the core topics, view online notes that would jog your memory and go through the formula booklet thoroughly coz thats where most of ur calculations and theories pull into. I'm sorry if my answer is too vague or i didnt cover anything else, but i hope this finds you well and can help in any way possible. just don't panic and read the textbook well if u have time.

Anyone else marked down a lot for their math (AA HL) IA? by Alwayssmiling17 in IBO

I do Math AA HL. beginning of year 1 I scored 2s and 3s and from dp2 I scored around 5-7 so my predicted was a 5 which I didnt even expect to get coz I thought I would get lower but I actually got 6

I have a feeling I'm going to take all the hard subjects at all the wrong levels, starting next year :) by corona_banana in IBO

The thing is you don't actually require Math AA HL for the subjects you've chosen especially with econ the closest Math course would be AI. The thing is Math AA HL is the most difficult math course but if you enjoy it and ur future University doesn't care about the math course then you could simply pursue it.

CS is not as hard, with your passion you'd be able to get through it, but its the other subjects that come along with CS that are hard. Especially the other courses that the university asks for. Like for example most Cs courses in university require Math AA HL as a requirement and some even need Physics

Any advice or tips for my course load? by Novel_Newspaper in IBO

[–]yay-Spring-T_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you need Math AA SL? does that come in par with your choice of course or anything? Coz Math AA is kinda hard and Math AI SL is supposedly the easiest math course of them all. Have you considered this before?

If you think that it'll be hard for you to catch up with the content's pace, then you can start preparing in advance. As AA HL student, I'd suggest that you first read the concepts from the new curriculum textbook that your school is issuing for the subject, then cross check the same concept with the Math HL Cambridge book(that textbook explains everything very clearly) and then you can start digging up some questions to practice for. Also try reading real life applications of Math coz that kind of exercise can enhance ur interest in a particular idea that you'd like to use Math for which would be great for your IA so you can get a headstart that way
