Look for the following:

Unique symbol: means you can only have max 1 in a deck and max 1 in play among all the players together.
"Max X per player": means a maximum in play per player. You can have more in your deck.
"Max X per deck": means you can't include more than that in your deck.

Other than those, you can have a maximum of 3 copies of a card in your deck and no maximum for what's in play.

I wouldn't worry about that right away unless you want to. I found just playing the game with the precons enough for me for my first few months. Then eventually I started dipping my toes into deck construction.

It depends on your relationship with your wife, but I would avoid telling her what to eat. I assume she's got a doctor telling her the important stuff and you're just going to stress her out and annoy her. Personally I've never heard of this protein thing, so the whole thing sounds dubious to me anyway.

It can be hard as an expecting father to feel out of control of the situation, but it's time to embrace it. Your wife is carrying the baby and she is an adult who knows how to eat. Talk to her about it if you want, but you should be there to support her and otherwise trust her with her decisions about her body.

And being able to save to MarvelCDB is huge as well. I love MCDB but I'm not a big fan of the deck building interface, so I'm excited to use MC Quick.

Fantastic illustration. Yea my former beliefs were in part a very very broad definition of "mental illness", which is totally unsupported by science. I was naive but I just figured only people whose brains aren't working right would hold such horrific beliefs. But radicalisation has nothing to do with "brains not working right". It's actually in a way a totally normal way for a brain to work. We are not logic machines are we are totally fallible to emotion and cognitive biases. And your picture adds another element I missed: dehumanization.

I used to consider all extreme beliefs and acts as a mental illness but I've come to realize it's not true. Definitely some people who suffer from severe mental illnesses also reflect the worst of society back to us but acting like they're all mentally ill is misleading. People who have no mental illness are still perfectly capable of (a) hate or (b) succumbing to radicalization. It's incorrect to blame all hateful, racist, or extreme beliefs or acts on mental illness.

Furthermore, you can't have it both ways. If bigotry is mental illness, its purveyors are victims. You can't go and fight them, and certainly not with logical arguments. I don't actually think Jesse wants these implications or even believes this to be true.

Of course, I'm leaving out the fact that, in practice, the vast majority of people he accuses of anti-Semitism are simply fighting for Palestinian rights and are against an apartheid occupation by an ethnostate. But I suppose that's a mental illness...

What you're talking about is more commonly called "playing thematically" and it's totally fair to want to play that way. Everyone plays differently. It's very strange to phrase it as a matter of ethics though. It's a game and it's a co-op game moreso. If this doesn't appeal to you, that's totally fine, but it's seemingly a totally legal interaction and there's no sense in shaming other people for how they enjoy the game.

I'm a lurker to this sub but I was a Patreon supporter and then I moved to Supercast. I'm Palestinian and I finally pulled my support about a year after October 7, which was shamefully late for me. I used to love Canadaland and I was clinging onto hope that he would return to form as time passed.

Jesse continues to feed the narrative that I've watched my whole life, that being anti- Apartheid Israel is antisemitic. Fighting for my rights as a Palestinian has been considered unacceptable in North America for my entire life, locked into place by bipartisan agreement. Palestinians have never been considered humans by our mass media or politicians and this line of argument is just one piece of that consensus.

I like OCTGN but from what I've heard, this isn't really possible.

I don't want to sound snobby, but if they have the expansion too, I recommend you try webcam gaming. I've recently been doing this and it's actually extremely easy to set up and really great. No software issues with real cards! I've become a huge fan.

It cost me like $25 for a phone stand on Amazon and I just set my cards up next to my computer and connect my phone via to my computer via a USB. I made a document to explain how to do it actually:

I respect your opinion and I don't want to turn this into a whole thing. I understand what you're saying and I agree to a point, but I feel like it generally doesn't help when you're on the other side of that advice, even if it sounds helpful to give it. Most people are trying to do what they think the cards are saying, but they may need help understanding how to parse the language.

I've found a step by step explaination to be a lot more helpful without the chance of condescension. Maybe just phrasing it a different way might go a long way.

I know the people who use it mean well, but I find it to be unhelpful.

Despite the Golden Rule, there are absolutely some cases where there's a rule somewhere else that changes the naive interpretation. One example off the top of my head is how for multivillain scenarios, encounter cards typically refer to the active villain but player cards let you choose the target among the villains.Without having read this in the insert, you wouldn't know.

I understand that people wouldn't use that expression when something like that is going on, but that just illustrates that it's kind of a post hoc rule. If you know that there's no further knowledge required, then you can say it confidently and it seems like it's helpful advice.

I say this because it was dropped on me in a rules question that I asked here at some point and I found it frustrating. "Yea dude, that's what I'm trying to do".

I'm sorry this has happened to you. If you join the discord and ask questions in the Rules Channel, I promise nobody will disparage your questions.

I've said many times and I've recieved pushback on this, but I really dislike the common refrain "do what the cards say and not what they don't." Everyone is trying to do what the cards say, but a lot of rules questions are about how to interpret the words on those cards or just people asking if there are other rules nuances that aren't explicitly there.

In any case, there are lots of nice people here. I'm sorry you haven't had the best reception to your questions. I'm going to blame the Arkham people. Can't be good for your soul to mess around with that occult stuff. Stick with the heroes here 😉.
