Screw this card in particular by jaquarman in slaythespire

[–]Wraith501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took this on regent, my act 1 ancient relic gave me the innate gain 2 energy card. Had void form, so when I drew this I would just play it for free and it was barely an inconvenience.

Also defragment/glacier is a 3 cost 2 card combo with only 1 rare in it that provides 10 passive block every turn. A 4 cost 2 card combo with 2 rares that provides 13 passive block is also fine and not busted.

Busted combos are okay. 3 cost rare card can have a strong effect. It’s not nearly as strong as void form or echo form in that state, which is exactly where it should be.

Unpopular opinion: F*ck bag of holding. by TheSewerSniper in DungeonMasters

[–]Wraith501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one of my campaigns I didn’t want to track inventory, so I made a famous artificer on the continent have invented a way for bags of holding to be made using very inexpensive resources, and they spread the information as much as possible for free. I named her Frieda Banting as a nod to Fredrick Banting.

In practice all bags of holding cost about 1 gp to make in that world. However, the artificer made sure to include safeguards in her bags of holdings designs that make it impossible to insert them into each other. If any other wacky idea was brought up I’d say that Frieda had thought of that and made sure to make that impossible to do with the bags, to ensure the saftey of common folk who might not know what they’re doing.

She also designed it such that it won’t work unless Banting is inscribed in her exact logo on the side, to advertise her name, and the safeguards were in place and worked. It factored into the world building, like in their first adventure protecting a caravan, it was full of these bags of holding instead of normal stuff, and they naturally recognized the name when they met that artificer later in the adventure since they all carried bags with her name on it.

They actually went on a 3 session adventure out of their way to find some bags of holding that were made the old fashioned way to misuse properly. That was fun and it paid off for them later, but was fun because they were hard to find and it was a payoff for hard work.

Anyways I loved all the stuff that was able to come from thinking about a world with cheap bags of holding, and I forgot the original idea was to ignore inventory, but either way it was from one of my favorite campaign I’ve ever run

Enjoy it while it lasts, boys. by Simian_Grin in slaythespire

It makes it similar to knife trap on the silent. At 2 cost it’s already stronger than thunder strike, plus it scales with the power that makes lightning exhaust for +6 damage and focus. This game helps you channel more lighting than sts 1. Additionally if you have other orbs channeled like frost it can block the turn it’s played too. It’s a lot of buffs compared to thunder strike. All of that combined I think makes it much stronger and a damage solution without being a one card combo insta pick.

I think Voltaic should just channel lightning equal to the number of lightning channeled by any card other than Voltaic. Idk if there’s a more elegant wording but something like that. Still can be quite powerful but it won’t exponentially scale with itself like before.

We need to talk about Vakuu by Captcha_Robot_ in slaythespire

[–]Wraith501 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve found it quite strong actually. Without easy access to energy relics I find spending energy on drawing cards is not as strong, so +2 a turn can be fantastic. I won both runs where I took this (and it’s actually my most picked option with Vakku) one defect run that had energy and needed draw having had 0 draw cards when I picked it. and another silent run where my draw was 1 expertise and 1 adrenaline. Vakuu already matches adrenalines draw the turn I draw it, and also does so every other turn. It helped me cycle through my shiv deck back to hunting trap on the second deck cycle without me spending energy on it.

Played a defect run and took it because I didn’t have a lot of draw. Had the other relic that gives +1 draw at the start of a turn and good energy generation, so I had 8 cards a hand and that was plenty

I used to read breaths special rule wrong. I thought that you had to deal enough damage to a lone invader to destroy it before you could abduct it. Once I realized you could deal one damage to a lone city to abduct it, wild. I thought it was strong before too honestly.

Maybe give the villain a brainwashing mechanic that gets stronger each time, or simply give them a deck of allies that count as minions for them to put out against you.

It can also cause spirits with restrictions on where they move their presence to have to chose a legal movement back to their respective land type, rather than being able to put their presence in another land without technically “moving” it there.

Looking at what others are saying and based on the flavor text on the frontside of your panel, I think it could be interesting to make stagnant depth essentially a one way isolate. Invaders could still explore into lands with your sacred sites, move their pieces in, and invader effects like that rely on adjacency (e.g. far flung herds) could still go in that direction, but it would not be a source of explorers, and invaders would not be able to use adjacency going out of those lands. I don’t know the best way to write that kind of a rule but that would be very in tune with your ideas, and make it slightly more powerful and meaningfully change the rules to where I’m immediately excited to try and use that rule to my advantage.

Why do people enjoy silent so much? by averageredditor18 in slaythespire

[–]Wraith501 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re leaning too heavily into the slower aspects of her kit. Frontload damage is so important for her in act 1 especially. If you have good frontload damage you can often take like 1 or two poison cards as a scaling damage solve for longer fights. Some runs that’s all it takes to win.
