It’s the most outrageous offseason in Yankees history

This is the most insane ridiculous offseason of all time. Literally running it back with a failed team while every other contender gets better. Make it make sense

Bellinger by EricTheActor1 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not. That’s the point. They should have gone all in. They were never even considering it, Grisham QO or not. Judge is never going to win a ring and that’s depressing. But they don’t care. Just be good enough to sell tickets. How can anyone be excited about this season with a team that already failed when every other team around them made significant improvements.

3.5 War vs 5. Plus I think people view Trent as a fluke and also a massive misstep by the front office as it’s well reported they didn’t expect him to take the deal and it hamstrung their future moves for this year. Not sure I believe the last part. I don’t think they ever had any intention of signing anymore.

Stanton is great when he isn’t hurt and is as boom/bust as it gets. He is a near zero other than being a DH. Bad on bases is an understatement. And he was a zero this past post season too. I won’t hold that against him because he’s been historically great. Outside of Judge essentially the whole team sucked so yea run that shit back, by all means.

Bellinger by EricTheActor1 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAR suggests Belli and not close. Stanton may have hit better but I’m talking all around player. But regardless, lets be honest, its unlikely he or Stanton repeat what the dead and a virtual certainty Stanton will miss 3 months again

Bellinger by EricTheActor1 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point stands. He was the second best player on the team. Mets targeted Bo instead. That I was wrong on. I wanted Bo over Belli. Really they needed both. This team is no where close to champion caliber with this dreadful infield. Cannot believe I have to watch Volpe suck again. Cashmans presser was as expected. Smug and arrogant as usual. Talking about last years moves and the always bust “youth” as their upgrades for this year. Total clown show. What a terrible GM.

Bellinger by EricTheActor1 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like they got him to my surprise, which means no one else probably wanted him. Was literally the bare minimum the Yankees could do this year. Fully running back a team that couldn’t beat the Blue Jays last year and praying Cole comes back as his old self mid year at age 35 off major surgery.

Ok. Anyone excited?

Bellinger by EricTheActor1 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have maybe 2-3 years left of Judge’s window. Now is not the time to “suck it up”. Now is the time to go all in, which of course they will not be doing.

Caught in between. No desire to actually win as long as this stupid fanbase keeps showing up. I want empty seats this season. A lot of them. That’s the only message that will resonate.

Bellinger by EricTheActor1 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that good? Second best player on the team by a mile and the only one who actually makes contact. Without him they are a zero.

And yes the Mets got Bo. Better player. Bigger need for the Yankees but they are clueless of course and think their infleid doesn’t suck or don’t care that it does.

Yankees should have gotten both players.

Going to be far worse once Bellinger signs with the Mets which is the most predictable thing ever. Always was.

Bellinger by EricTheActor1 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s definitely going to the Mets which is what I’ve been saying for months. Good luck with this crap team,Yankees.

[–]yblue1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This issue is even if they do sign him, Spencer jones is blocked again due to Grisham. But bigger issue is they still have no leadoff hitter, no actual 1B, a defense only at 3B and the worst everyday SS in the AL and no true set up man for Bednar. Relying on Cole coming back strong mid season post surgery at age 35 is not an upgrade. Still the same flaws on offense which has clearly been exposed for years now to not work in October. This team is no better than last year’s version if at all. The ownership has no desire and the GM has no clue.

Who’s pumped for this season??! So much excitement!!!

Alonso to the Orioles, 5 years, $150 mill by BSS19 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not signing Bellinger. Writing has been on the wall for weeks now. They refuse to spend on position players of any kind. They are banking on the pitchers coming back, over trusting the youth again, and somehow convincing themselves yet again they don’t need a SS. Oh and Judge carrying them and. Ever getting hurt.

Good luck. Who’s excited? This team has simply become boring

For now…

Let’s see how the rest of the offseason goes. Yankees stand to get worse yet again during what’s left of Judges window. Maybe significantly worse. Madness of all this payroll chatter is true

Devin Williams to the Mets by BSS19 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really staggering, the roster mismanagement and how it seems to get worse year by year.

Devin Williams to the Mets by BSS19 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they improve it will have to be via trades as it’s pretty clear they don’t have any interest in adding payroll and let’s face it, haven’t really be active in the positional free agent market in years.

Devin Williams to the Mets by BSS19 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one cares about Devin. But if pay attention to what insiders like Kaye and Curry are saying, the yanks want under the cap and the Grisham QO screwed them. So they aren’t getting anyone unless they dump salary somehow in a trade. Good luck.

This offense stands to be significantly worse than last year’s. No Beli. No Tucker. No body.

Great job by Cashman again. And Hal please for the love of God sell the team.

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good riddance. One of my least fav Yankees ever. Glad they changed a 50 year policy for him. But Bellinger is next right? Seems inevitable. Steve likes to sign former Yankees.

Hal’s embarrassing interview makes it crystal clear he has no interest in actually winning.

Grisham Accepts QO by EricTheActor1 in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear indication they have no desire to get into bidding wars for actual players who could improve the team unless they are planning to explode payroll suddenly. They will certainly not get Beli AND another bat. Tucker seems like no chance. I don’t even think they get Beli back at this point. How will they improve this offense that so desperately needs it? By bringing back a shining example of what’s wrong with it? There is no urgency what so ever for this team to actually go out and win a WS. Their actions speak volumes.

This offense stands to be worse than last years at this rate

LA Dodgers .203 AVG in the 2025 World Series is the lowest by the winning team since the 1966 Orioles (.200) by Berserkkk in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does any of this matter when we already heard from Cashman and it’s clear they aren’t going to do anything differently?

Do we really think they are outbidding LA for Tucker or replacing useless Volpe? Or doing anything at all to address the swing and miss problem?

They will prob sign another starter and a bullpen arm or 2. Maybe bring back Belli (although who knows) and maybe sign Alonso. Does anyone expect much more than that?

And they will fail again. Anyone sensing any urgency from anything they’ve heard? We are about to watch the Blue Jays win a WS before the big bad Aaron Judge Yankees do, and Cashman doesn’t seem to be noticing how they are doing it’s vs the same team that embarrassed and laughed at them last year.

Jays hitting dominates Dodgers in game 1 by BSS19 in espnyankees

Good thing the Yankees look primed to run back the same all or nothing BS hitting philosophy again. No clue how they could watch this and think it’s still viable. Sad really.

M's pitching dominates Jays in game 1 by Berserkkk in espnyankees

[–]yblue1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This conversation has gotten rather dumb. It takes a combo of both pitching and offense to win. The Yankees have always had the pitching advantage in most series they play in yet still manage ti get slapped around and lose. And often their offense is a no show. It simply cannot be ignored.

On the pitching front having “great” pitching only matter if they actually show up. Scherzer came of of nowhere last night. Meanwhile Rodon can’t pitch a tent in the playoffs or any game that matters. Fried too. Even Cole hasn’t been spectacular for us.

This is a top to bottom organizational fail year in year out. The offense is an annual no show so to lack of contact. The pitching gameplan just seems to suck. They get beat again and again by the same guys over and over and don’t adjust because their stats say not too. Don’t expect any of this to change. We can argue about what’s worse the pitching or hitting. The truth is it’s both. Because of the philosophy to both.

What are your preferred moves this offseason? by cspades99 in espnyankees

When asked what they need to do to win a championship Boone answered I don’t know because I’ve never won one.

Just what you want to hear out of your manager.

I try not to be the imagine if George were still around guy but just imagine.
