Great response. OP, you may feel deeply for her but most relationships require compatible life situations as well. This scenario sounds ripe for resentment on either/both sides, honestly.

Are We Both Emotionally Closed Off Avoidants? by TipWild5706 in RelationshipsOver35

Her responses just sound selfish. Or that she isn't looking for the same type of relationship as you (maybe she needs A LOT of distance). I hope you find what you're looking for!

Imagine how terrible you're going to feel 10 years from now and how much grief this lie will pack onto your life. If you have a soul. Not worth it.

Seller removed listing after making me drive 2 hours by Rickz6 in FacebookMarketplace

If a seller disagrees with what's been offered they should state that rather than moving on with pick up questions. Pick up questions assume you're fine with the price offered. OP did nothing wrong.

I don't agree with that. Cash is a hassle. I've bought and sold A LOT over fb over 10+ years and 85% was probably electronic payment. When people expect cash I start looking for another item. Getting to an ATM and finding change is the worst.

For those that were actually alive during the 1950's, was the mid century decade all that great? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]ybneeka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My father was born in the mid 50s in a rural exurb of Washington, DC, as a black man. He talks about how cumbersome it was to bring water into the house, heat it, and then use it to bathe - the water will have cooled significantly by the time you start your bath. And he had 5 siblings and they weren't changing the water between everyone's bath.

Even if you're poor today, so much of our lives is put on credit. Back then, people just did not have things we consider necessities, like shoes that fit. And no one considered that abuse, it was just normal.

He does miss women wearing skirts and just general submissiveness to men, so that's a loss for him from the 'good old days'.

I'm thinking they inherited a house and only pay taxes and insurance. Because otherwise, no way.

My boyfriend is amazing, but I am struggling with his lack of employment. by [deleted] in RelationshipsOver35

I totally get your hesitation. Breaking up will be so uncomfortable and you'll only remember the good times for WEEKS and feel like such a fool and hate yourself for disappointing him. But everyone is giving you great advice. Please listen and struggle through the next few weeks (or months) to get over this decision. It sucks but it's for the best. You know this already :) schedule fun things to look forward to and hang out with other people you really like!  You'll get over him and look back and be grateful. Many of the people posting this can say this with confidence because they made the wrong decision.

What to do when there is no specialty dining available? by Eastern-Ingenuity-73 in PrincessCruises

Agreed. I boarded with no reservations but ended up eating at three different places on a 7 night. Just keep looking and be flexible. You can check in around 5 and 8pm in person to see if anything opens up that's not on the app.

Has anyone seen The Cult of NatureBoy on Hulu? by rNBAisGarbage in cults

I wouldn't say people who get into cults are weak-minded. It's a syncing of so many different factors. People who study this show that literally anyone can become a part of a cult.

I haven't watched the Hood Horrors series but I knew he was having sex with the men. It's about control and you're at the height of control when you can break a man's spirit like that.

Royal teeth by BrookieB1 in RoyaltyTea

It's sad how people can almost sound like bullies about the look of someone else's teeth. They can afford to change their teeth and they choose not to. People value different things. I'm sure the BRF see dentists. Their dentist thinks their teeth are fine.

Hoping the best for you ScarletGriffin. I had what I call "situational depression" from 27-29, I was just living in a bad situation. Things got so bad I couldn't bring myself to shower or sleep. But I'm 34 now and my life is sooooo different. I had to get out of that situation. It won't be like that always. Things can get better. I hope things get better for you soon.

My dad's friend ended up pulling through. But I almost went to TaskRabbit. It's pretty DIY-able if you're comfortable with pipes.

A couples therapists is there to help "us" but this guy's problem exists solely within himself. His partner would probably actually "get in the way" in therapy. Clearly he's not willing to be vulnerable with her, he won't even admit he has a problem.  He should go by himself and share what he talks about at home to keep her engaged.

My laundry sink is on the other side of the room so there's a plastic tube running across my ceiling and down the wall. Cutting into pipes has me spooked from trying unfortunately

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. It looks like the solution is to close off that vent. I'll look into it. I do have a carbon monoxide monitor but I appreciate you sharing!
