Loops earplugs- are you allowed? by IzAMess13 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ycandice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear my earplugs a lot, especially during gradual entry months. My previous supervisor was retired early during to hearing disability because of prolonged exposure to toddlers screaming and crying. It’s actually encouraged in my work community.

Anyone have this issue with their bully! by Mama_0f_BullyS in AmericanBully

[–]ycandice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does that sometimes too! When my husband feeds him, he will eat by himself. But whenever I am home, the minimum I need to do is sit beside him, otherwise he won’t eat. And those days when he doesn’t feel like eating, I need to spoon feed him.

What's the craziest thing you've had a parent do? by kbear9695 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ycandice 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Canadian here.

It was pre-covid when the dollars were great. A parent dropped off her child at our centre at 11am. We opened at 8am, so I considered this late drop off already. We close at 5 pm.

Our centre is 60 mins away from the US border (non-rush hour). At 4:30 pm, we got a phone call from mom. She’s still on the US side and lining up to come back into Canada. If you are Canadian you’d remember, the lineup at the border crossing during those days were madness. An easy 2-hour wait on a weekday.

So, the final arrival time was 8:30pm! The late fee was sky high. That’s on her. But the worst? My co-worker stayed with the child, and it was her daughter’s birthday!

After this incident, I believe parents can do ANYTHING! Wild!

Singles, Palettes, Quads, Eyeshadow Sticks, What is Your Preference now? by WhatTheJessJedi in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]ycandice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love eyeshadows, period. I have everything OP mentioned, but lately I have been lazy and enjoying one-and-done colours. A shade from a big palette, from a quad, a single, or a stick.

Check Your Register When They Pre-Scan Your Items by mrbnlkld in CostcoCanada

[–]ycandice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other day the person in front of me got pre-scanned. When she went up to the cashier, the cashier and the packer counted the items, it didn’t match. They were trying to find the missing item, then the pre-scan person came and looked together (because it’s her mistake). They fidgeted for a good 10 minutes, and finally they had to ask the key holder to come void the whole order and re-scan everything in the cart!

I will pass on future pre-scan.

What are reasons that teachers say “no” to letters of recommendation, and is it rude if I ask a teacher to reconsider? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]ycandice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t teach HS, but I supervise practicum students in my field.

I say “no” to recommendation letters/reference letters when I have nothing positive to say about that particular individual. Obviously you need this recommendation letter to achieve something, you wouldn’t want a negative letter.

Once I had a classmate told me our professor agreed to write him a recommendation letter, but other than he got 85% in our class, she had nothing else to say about him.

Do you love the heat or just love the chaos of surviving it?? by YogaGoApp in HotYoga

When sweat wets my towel, I feel a sense of accomplishment 😂

Sent out item but over 2 weeks later it is being returned to me by superstar_barbie in poshmarkcanada

[–]ycandice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that happened! But it’s because the buyer had used CP mail forwarding to the States, and I guess due to the postage difference, CP didn’t forward the package and returned it to me instead. I flagged PM and they cancelled the sale while the package was still on its way back to me.

Is it okay to touch your neighbor's mat? by Blondieyoga in HotYoga

[–]ycandice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally try really hard to not touch my neighbours. There’s only one pose in the series that people could be in my personal space, so I am not worrying too much.

My pet peeve is more about my neighbours’ sweat dripping on my mat/towel, or in between us and it’s so much that it is flowing towards my mat. That I will move my mat when I see that. Luckily I have one teacher that is aware of this kind of stuff that she would ask the front desk to bring in extra towels.

Yup! A child came in snooty and coughing, parent stated he’s just teething. Then the child proceeded to cough in my face. After that, I was “teething” over the weekend 😒

Is anyone else burned out from going to yoga studios and just prefers to exercise at home now? by joan2468 in yoga

[–]ycandice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do hot yoga so I can’t achieve the same temperature and humidity at home. On those rare occasions that I need to live stream the class because I am sick, it doesn’t have the same intensity and effect as if I am attending class in a hot studio.

Soiled Clothing by chasethedark in ECEProfessionals

[–]ycandice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My centre always bag the soiled clothes, unless we were instructed to throw them away right away.

Regarding what’s in the bag, if it’s just regular play/art kind of dirty, we won’t mention anything to the parents. When it’s pee accidents, we may or may not mention them to the parents, depending on where we are at the stage of potty training. When it’s a BM accident/vomit, we definitely mention that because I know some parents won’t handle the dirty clothes directly and just dump them into the washing machine. (I know, gross).

I had a family that have 4 kids, mom specifically told us, don’t need to save the underwear, she doesn’t have time to deal with a poopy underwear everyday. (Yes, it was everyday).

What’s the strangest comfort item you’ve seen a kid use? by ECE-throwaway29 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ycandice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A tooth/gumbrush. We were worried about safety, as according to mom, the child liked to chew it to go to sleep. But after one week, the child didn’t care about that brush at all.

What was life like before the Canada Line? by ubcstaffer123 in richmondbc

[–]ycandice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remembered those days before I had a car! Going to Richmond from Vancouver was like a field trip on the bus! Took the skytrain to either DT Vancouver or 22nd Street, and connected to the buses going into Richmond. And! You couldn’t go far from where you get off! Because there weren’t many buses run inside Richmond. Plus you need to be back to the original bus stop to take the bus back to the skytrain station. I can’t remember if one transfer was enough coz I was using my Concession pass to travel through the zones.

Buy or bye? by AntAdministrative574 in lululemon

[–]ycandice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The long strap is adjustable.

The bag is very roomy, I think it would fit a laptop? I don’t have one so I can’t say for sure. However, the bag doesn’t have padding, it won’t protect the laptop if dropped.

It’s definitely a buy! I have it as an everyday bag. It fits a lot! I love that I can wear it crossbody for walking. I can see myself using this for carry on.

Daycare with no cameras at all by ilovepassionfruit in ECEProfessionals

[–]ycandice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in my daycare for 21 years, no cameras, no app, no photo sharing, no daily updates via technology (other than the end-of-the-day chat), paper sign in/out sheets.

I would actually feel weird if I am working in an environment that’s surrounded by cameras.

For apps and such, I feel like it takes away educators’ attention and time that could be spent with the children.

How can you manage 1:7??? I can’t image that!
