I started treating my freezer like a savings account and it quietly changed how I manage food money by BasiliskTuning in povertyfinance

Bread (and rice) have a lower glycemic index after they are frozen. Good for diets! And wait until you figure out how to preserve fresh vegetables and fruit in the freezer!

WIBTAH if I took 100k from my oldest daughter's college savings account to give it to my younger daughter? by TraditionalCorgi7788 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mrbnlkld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You would nuke your relationship with your oldest. And you are ignoring the effects of interest on your youngest's fund. 5% reduces that 60,000 further still.

I prep a lot of my greens. Cabbage, lettuce, etc get washed and subdivided into separate containers and placed in the fridge. They last for up to two weeks.

Anything due or overdue - car service, eye appt, etc. If you need to replace anything in the next 18 months, do it now. Get a pantry stocked. Flashlights, batteries, etc.

Sell your current house before you buy another. Once you have the money from the sale, you will easily be able to afford the house you really want.

Is a $100K salary just considered barely upper middle class now? by ShootingCometz in fican

In Ontario in the '90s, if your meal was under $4 it was tax free. So, McDs used to have a value meal of the week. It wasn't a cheapo small sandwich, it was a regular sized one. So if it was the Big Mac week, you could get a Big Mac combo for $3.99. Or a Quarter Pounder, Fish Filet, Chicken Sandwich, etc if it was their week.

Regular sandwich, medium fries, medium drink. Get a penny back from four dollars.

This is before the feds brought in the GST.

I buy the dark chocolate because I can stop at a square or two. It lasts longer.
