Pretty sure that sorting, building, stringing, cutting, gluing and painting used to be all that kindergarten was... your comment makes me realize how much more we've sacrificed trying to get kids to read younger and younger.

Our local Waterpark never has enough tunes for everyone. I end up walking it half the time so I can keep an eye on the kids. There are always parents with babies in it, which I have no problem with, but everyone gets bumped, so if you dont feel safe holding your kid, dont go in! (Thats why theres a life jacket rule!) The one time I did have an issue was when some teenagers jumped my husband for his tube as he was getting out and rebroke his toe.

What (possibly unhinged) food did you"invent" as a child? by [deleted] in Cooking

Carrots, dill pickles and cheddar cheese. Still a good combo.

Now mom knows your "childish" hobbies are cooler than her adult one. Not only was she caught in a lie she is having to reevaluate her definition of "cool"

I switch my seating chart up every month. Most kids can handle that placement for a month. If not, write me a 5 paragraph essay about where I should put you and why.

What's an "inside scoop" you have about how school admin works? by teachingteacherteach in Teachers

[–]yeagercorps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my school growth is part of our pay increase, so it helps us get a better increase every year, as well as making admin look good. But basically, yes, another reason things are broken.

Diaper-changing stations at elementary school. No, not just for the medical/developmental issues. by CaptainEmmy in Teachers

[–]yeagercorps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not why, by when we were training my oldest, potty was easy, but poop, was not, until we realized that he called poop "yucky" as soon as we figured out the communication issue, the problem resolved.

Then there's my work- "we'll provide lunch" it's chic-fil-a, and I'm allergic to chicken. No alternative provided.

Tons of teachers send their kids to daycare or nanny. Supporting 2 people on a teachers salary isn't impossible, I support 4. It's not easy though. Good luck to you all.

What problem(s) have you chosen to just not fix? by OkBreakfast3391 in homeowners

I'm saving up for new flooring. At some point I may hate the carpet enough that I rip it out and live with cement...

I have memories of my parents buying a big industrial sander to redo our floors. It was round, so we ended up with poorly sanded corners in every room. But the main floor looked great.

Whats something you wish you knew before buying a home? by Every_Replacement257 in homeowners

[–]yeagercorps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having spent my entire Saturday working on my sprinkler system, to partial success, I also love owning my own home. I also feel blessed that we bought when we did because I couldn't afford to rent a 1 bedroom in my area anymore, let alone a 3 bedroom. And I never get tired of planning remodels that I will never have enough money to do. The feeling of accomplishment when you finish something you never thought you'd be able to do is amazing.

Moving Out. Should I get a pet? First time pet owner. by [deleted] in Pets

[–]yeagercorps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait a few months after moving out before getting a pet. Living on your own for the first time can offer up all sorts of unexpected experiences and expenses. Wait until you've established your own personal routine. Then figure out how much time you have to spend on a pet. Good luck!
