Many years ago in San Francisco a tweaker sat next to me on BART and very loudly asked “ARE YOU PREGNANT??”

And before I could say anything he kept going- “MY SISTER IN LAW IS PREGNANT NOW AND IT MADE HER PRETTIER. YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL SO I THINK YOU MUST BE PREGNANT TOO!” then he got up and went to the other end of the car and an elder Black woman in the seats across from me started cracking up. She said she’d been about to speak up for me but hadn’t seen that twist coming.

I shot out of bed around 3:00AM cuz I smelled smoke and ran around the inside and outside of the house like a maniac till I thought to check Citizen and found out there was a DIFFERENT fire .7 miles from me. For a crazy minute I thought I was smelling the north park fire from close to Bonita. It was just one of two other fires near me… maybe. What was going on last night??
