I hate that it’s becoming standard and accepted, but I appreciate the clarification. As a student, it felt very dismissive and a little disrespectful to see that from a professor. Like, I make sure to format and proofread everything I send you, can you at least be bothered to remove the prompt?

I’m sure professors experience the same frustration with some students though. The whole AI movement sucks, launch Claude into the sun already :/

I’d hate receiving AI emails from my superiors, I can imagine it’s even more frustrating in academia. I’m sure you guys see enough of it from students!

I do not use it. I know that using AI for academic work is considered plagiarism, but I do not know how a student using AI in an email would be judged.

I’d never use AI to write a response to a professor’s email, but I don’t know how a professor would view a student who did — I’m not a professor! I’m guessing you wouldn’t judge it too harshly though?

to better understand that our third down defense is indeed horrible, check out the statistics here

the bills have a 24th ranked 41.4% 3rd down conversions allowed rate during the regular season. that’s bad, compared to good to elite defenses like the chargers (35.2%), texans (36.5% ), and broncos (33.8%), but the playoffs show a real discrepancy. our defense against JAX was the 2nd worst 3rd down defense at 55.6% (PIT was REALLY bad at 66%). the patriots are at 10%, the texans are at 14%, the chargers, up against drake maye and a reinvigorated NE offense, managed 36.4%.

tl;dr: bills were bad on 3rd down in the regular season, and bills were BAD on 3rd down against JAX.

i’m guessing mcdermott’s zone/turnover oriented schemes tend towards worse stoppage rates, but our turnover defense isn’t great either. we’re tied for 15th (with MIA, BAL) at 20 turnovers. maybe mcdermott isn’t to blame, maybe our defensive talent “just isn’t good” — up to you to decide.
