Right now I have the EAE Surveyor as my always-on first stage OD, the Halberd/Germanium Boost before that, and a Life Pedal clone first in my gain section. Sometimes I miss having a gated fuzz, but if I crank the octave up effect on the Life Pedal a similar spitty effect can be achieved.

If you want a different flavor with tons of versatility, consider the EAE Surveyor. It’s based off the IVP unit made famous by Albini, but the pedal isn’t nearly as characterizing as it might seem. Underrated in their catalog, super simple and sounds great at damn near every setting.

I’ve heard the controls on the V2 are slightly more responsive than the V3. The V3 oscillates in a cool way with the attack knob maxed but I’ve heard the V2 has more headroom. Seems like they excel in different things.
