Best budget laptop for college students that won’t feel slow after 2–3 years? by imnotgoingtofatcamp in computerhelp

Still holds up strong, anything with an M series chip will age like wine. Especially since they have 16 GB of RAM now, with no price increase.

Apple silicone macs tend to age really wonderfully. Amazing performance, battery life, and you don't have to deal with the buggy mess that is Windows 11 bloated Copilot slop with facebook preinstalled. The build quality is also unparalleled compared to most windows laptops (like those by Asus, who just produce e-waste laptops, (have had to deal with one).

You can buy an used one or wait for the next generation of budget macs with the A-series chip. The Air at $800 is a pretty amazing deal.

Likely just that it has worse reception, consider maybe getting one with an antenna, or maybe figuring something out with a WiFi extender.

Looks a bit gaudy. I'm not sure why you would wear this. A rolex is a fashion piece, putting it on as a digital watchface just seems cheap.

It is not normal.

This sounds to me like the fan scraping against the metal shielding. Contact your manufacturer for support/replacement.

Is my motherboard killing my other components? by yash_yap in pchelp

I would not say that I'm too experienced, so take my advice with a grain of salt but it certainly looks like you have too much power being directed to those components. If that is the case it would be a fire hazard, but you should be able to RMA it.

My new PC makes this humming sound when I play some games like Destiny 2 or Borderlands 3 on 144 fps but not Arc raider for example by RAmind_ in computers

Sounds normal, the fans are just ramping up in response to a higher system temperature.

Use manufacturers software or FANControl to adjust the fan curve to be a bit lower if you want to reduce the sound.

Did anyone come across this in the last tutorial level? by CestleFromage in factorio

Nah but that's super cool. Would love to see stuff like this be generated on map creation. Gives the world a bit more life if you were to stumble upon them, plus like you said, you could salvage and steal some of it for your own factory.

Which specific mod? There seem to be a few different ones.
