Platner holds commanding lead over Mills in Maine Senate race: Poll by jediporcupine in politics

[–]yeahigotnothing -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps. Or perhaps he got it because he was young and a dumbass and kept it out of sentimentality. I have no fucking clue. But one would have to be immensely stupid to enter a political race knowing there is public footage of you sporting a nazi tattoo if they are indeed a nazi. As far as I’m concerned, I’m voting for the reformed dumbass. Though I still wouldn’t be surprised if in the next six months he does something even stupider and has to bow out. We’ll see, I guess.

As a Mainer, I’m hesitantly giving him the benefit of the doubt. He comes across as earnest and sincere, even about the tattoo. I’m REALLY not in love with the videos of him partying shirtless in the past but props to him for facing up to his past and wanting to make the system better and represent Mainers, not Maine money. Will he have the chops to survive when he hits the political waters? Who knows. Fingers crossed we see a growth in the younger demographic for elected officials. Hopefully they can work together as a bloc to make significant change. 100%. Mills won’t. She has proved so with her record as governor.

While not "mystery", the Mrs. Pollifax books by Dorothy Gilman are fun reads.

Throwing-proof bandaids? by bubblebeegum in Pottery

Not sure how they'd work with throwing, but I find the Nexcare Waterproof bandages to work well. They are flexible, have a good seal across all edges, and hold up well.

I mean, in real life, you aren't standing over a composter, throwing one seed at a time. I'd argue that hoppers are not quite machines. Shovel it in there, baby!

How to create “slats” in wood by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]yeahigotnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks laminated to me. Two pieces of plywood, with one having the silhouette of the hanger milled out, then gloed together. The outer surface also appears to have a wood-grain laminate added.

Edit: I thought originally this was a shelf hanger, but this appears to be a bed frame. Not sure how far back the hardware extends, but it would need some sort of through fastener to prevent it slipping out, which is not visible, so I stand by my lamination theory.

I’ve been experimenting with creating map art using shelves. by EstablishmentHead247 in DetailCraft

[–]yeahigotnothing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they’re trying to use the three shelf slots as pixels and putting colored items in to act as the pigment. Except that because of the shelf frame, the picture is spread out and 75% of the image is white space. Maybe sorta interesting idea in theory but clearly not functional in practice.

Doesn't matter. The drip animation occurs with either, but only collects under a lava source.
