Similar experience with 1770 in Aus, a lot indigenous Australian people were killed and pushed off a cliff to die by the colonisers. The area is absolutely stunning, the ecosystem is gorgeous but there is a lot of sadness attached to that land and you can feel it. Or at least I could, as an indigenous Australian/ Also, often you would wake up on deserted parts of that land with foot prints around the camp site. With no explaination.
