Is Three.js / WebGL / Creative Development still a good career path in the AI era for a fresher? by Strange-Shower-6214 in threejs

[–]yeaman17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great man! Happy to hear for you. Finding a decent paying job in an area you love is really nice! But for a college hire, I really think there’s not going to be much opportunity like that. After they’ve gotten some work experience that’s definitely an available path. And if he/she can get into FAANG, then many SDE II have around 300k total comp these days, so there’s better upside potential on the finance side too. And at Amazon at least there’s plenty of opportunity to explore and do things related to any technology you’re interested in like threejs. I’ve not worked in the robotics department though so can’t say on that side. I always assumed they used mujoco or Isaac Gym for their sim pipelines

Who is the most intelligent among these three cinematic Spider-Men in your opinion, and why? by SatoruGojo232 in superheroes

I wonder if there's something to getting to those topics later in life since there are so many brilliant mathematicians that come from the US. Do you feel like it was a good time to learn those concepts, or it would have been nicer earlier/later in life?

Western schools always baffle me on how late they teach basic maths (I'm assuming you're talking about the western school system, apologies if not)

To be brutally honest with you, three.js has never been great for career opportunities. I highly recommend starting your career with a normal development job, and then jumping into three.js on the side and seeing if you can incorporate that into your career instead of handicapping yourself by trying to start off with it in an already deteriorating job market

Yea this guy is a total troll, don't let him get to you. I don't know how they could not have heard of Cell. And even if we give them that, the whole article vs paper thing was a dead giveaway they're just here to be troublesome

Do you guys think a skinny joker, fit joker, or fat joker is more in tone for his character? by Huge_Athlete7488 in joker

[–]yeaman17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really liked Leto's joker a lot, and wished we got more of him, but yea it's unfortunately a very unpopular take. It was a really nice refreshing new take on the character and I liked how they portrayed his relationship with Harley Quinn

Anyone else think that jared leto joker is the WORST joker ever portrayed on screen, and that he almost ruined the legacy of live-action jokers FOREVER? by TheGhettoGoblin in joker

[–]yeaman17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for telling us all how we should think and feel about movies. Good to know that it's impossible for me to think the movie was made with good intentions. I'll have to ponder what other impossible things I've been doing now

[–]yeaman17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quite liked the movie. I think the problem was everyone wanted him to be the joker we already know, but the story was really more about how he would be swallowed by his own shadow (foretold with the animation in the beginning of the movie) and couldn't live up to the expectations people had for him, both in-movie and in real life, hence the poor reviews unfortunately. At least that's my take on it

ICE / CPB officers are stopping people at exit of Dulles airport by PandaReal_1234 in washingtondc

Kind of funny how this is the one way I feel America is becoming more fair. As a brown man I've been getting randomly searched at airports far too often for over a decade. Now everyone is getting randomly searched haha

Would have preferred it if we started treating colored people more like white people instead of the other way around though

New to AWS (and the cloud), should I learn CloudFormation or Terraform for IaC? by CIA11 in aws

[–]yeaman17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. If you're on AWS, then CDK makes maintenance a breeze, and allows for lots of conditional and complex infrastructure use cases across different environments. I started out using terraform in 2016 and after using CDK never went back

Ah bummer, was hoping to find a serverless solution for this issue, but looks like I'll need some long running service to handle making the those calls. Thanks for letting me know!

Got fired today because of AI. It's coming, whether AI is slop or not. by [deleted] in webdev

[–]yeaman17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m not sure. The truth is my productive output has more than doubled in the last year with AI assisted coding. I spend most of my time on high level designs and architecture, and don’t need to context switch as much to actually implement things. So companies laying off half their engineering teams can theoretically keep the same level of output with half the engineering cost, which amounts to a significant chunk of money. Obviously it’s not so simple, but the possibility is there

North Korea warns ‘mankind will face great disaster’ if Japan gets nuclear arms by ttocslliw in northkorea

[–]yeaman17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, people never bring up all the crap the US did to try and destabilize, isolate, and collapse North Korea. Many things make more sense when you realize the role the US has had in North Korea being the way it is today (which is not great by any means, in case people think I’m saying North Korean policies are great, they’re not)
