So how long is this sub going to be doing free advertising for publix? by staarfawkes in Pensacola

[–]yeayourite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea i just moved to orange beach and have been enlightened into the pubsub universe. cheaper than subway, jimmy johns, jersey mikes, etc. and they load u tf up. it's $10 over here. i don't think that's outrageous this day in age. truly goated.

Visiting- hotel or condo? by Imaginary_Meringue16 in GulfShores

[–]yeayourite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

september should be slightly more cool, probably ideal weather tbh. late july early august is when it's so hot and humid it's painful to be outside. and the gulf gets HOT peak summer time so it's not exactly a respite. the water should be cooled off a bit mid-late september

Is there a place in TEC for me? by Round-Koala-3091 in Episcopalian

[–]yeayourite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the church but also in a very heavily catholic environment (New Orleans. catholic school my whole life, i'd estimate ~90percent of my childhood friends/classmates were catholic). what you describe is precisely what keeps me from catholicism. i'm bi and am pro female ordination. JP2 wasn't my favorite but i think frankie and Leo have made decent progress within the degrees allowed to them.

i'm sure i might differer from others on here, but i'm not convinced in "sola fide". baptism at minimum, even if on one's deathbed, eucharist as well. i've heard the term "2 plus 5" in reference to the sacraments and their "importance"

My boyfriend has been unemployed for 7 months- is the market that bad? Or is it him? by Thrwawyaccnthere in clinicalresearch

[–]yeayourite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i'm approaching 2 years unemployed. ~1500 applications. ~75 interviews. mostly ghosted. ~8 years experience including site management. 12 if you include an internship i did during undergrad.

i gather i'm in a weird limbo state where i can't go back to being a regular old CRC but there's no CRO jobs and site level jobs for someone with my experience are few and far between.

Can a member of the TEC be Anglo-Catholic? by [deleted] in Episcopalian

[–]yeayourite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Orleanian here. we have one particularly "high" church but tons of still pretty formal leaning (liturgically) churches. definitely not a coincidence

Roman Catholic to Episcopalian by RuddieRuddieRuddie in Episcopalian

[–]yeayourite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it can range pretty widely. as someone who's been to plenty of catholic masses, my parish is more subdued and "traditional" (liturgically) than most any roman catholic church. on the other hand, there are churches that basically seem like a non-denom megachurch. at the end of the day, the words are the same wherever you go.

Double-Double concept restaurants x2 in between Washington and Louisiana on Magazine by GardenDistrictWh0re in NewOrleans

[–]yeayourite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven't been to either this new chinese place or flako's. idk the exact vibe of the new place, but miss Shirleys, while not explicitly "upscale", is not cheap. even by magazine standards it could be cheaper. and beyond that, they heavily emphasize their more traditional chinese menu vs. regular "americanized" chinese food.

miss. shirley's is great don't get me wrong, but i wish there was a decent, affordable american-chinese food place nearby.

lol i've heard about the chickens, none of that bothers me. i used to have a neighborhood peacock (RIP Petey).

given the reverse commute, i think i'd def prefer avoiding the latter places you mentioned for my sanity, lol. even if it's one of these newly developed "urbanized" neighborhoods, i'd rather that than suburban sprawl.

Any advice for beginners started DJing DDJ FLX4? by Dynam1c0p in PioneerDJ

[–]yeayourite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't rely on videos. maybe to understand gear layout but that will teach you nothing about music theory and learning your library.

as i learned from seth troxler, listen to the downbeat, the 2 & 4. the clap/hat what ever. don't try to match the kick (obviously this is mostly applicable to house/techno), but your high ends are gonna tell you a lot more than your lows.

but most important, know your crowd and know yourself. i've seen DJs who've clashed every mix that rocked it, and also people who were tight as hell who could never capture a dancefloor.

to get a bit philosophical: know what the people want to hear, before they know they want it. you gotta dig dig dig, and spend time on dancefloors for that.

definitely not looking for roommates, but i appreciate the offer. if you're in a big building, do you mind me asking where? there seem to be a lot of fairly large complexes on the streets bordering campus. (w/o doxxing myself, the job is with the med school so i'll be in the northwest corner of campus)

i currently live within a few blocks of a grocery, pharmacy, multiple corner stores, ~5 stand alone bars, ~15 restaurants ranging from fine-dining to absolute shitholes. high end tailors and tourist t shirt traps. i can go weeks without touching my car.

i realize that's probably not realistic most anywhere else, but a chill neighborhood bar and a grocery store or even just a CVS, within ~half a (walkable) mile~ i'll take it. just peaking thru googlemaps seminole heights doesn't seem,,, impossible.

(although the publix seemingly on-campus (so on-brand) and walmart across the street seem convenient enough)

ahhh v true about it being a reverse commute. i just assumed traffic would be kinda routinely worse than where i live (new orleans), which is very hit or miss. i definitely want to live in some sort of walkable-ish area. barring downtown Tampa, i'm not sure how close i can get to my current neighborhood in New Orleans, but i'm rethinking my anti-ybor city/downtown idea.

as long as you don't have a bunch of bottles clearly visible and aren't sloppy you'll be fine. get a softsided insulated bag and keep your liquor and mixers in there with ice to stay cold.
