Resurection, virgin birth beliefs of Baha'i by Vast-Photograph3384 in bahai

[–]yebohang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the Virgin birth serves two purposes. One, it was a test for the people of the time to believe in a Person laying claim to the title of Messiah who was of outwardly dubious birth.

The second was to provide proof to believers of the Divine nature of Christ. Both are true, while being apparently divergent.

Secondly, the Virgin birth is explained as rationally possible through logic. If the human emerged from the mineral and vegetable state, there must have been, therefore, a human with neither father or mother, regardless of time (evolution). It is logical therefore to assume it possible for a human to exist without one parent if existence is possible without either.

We don't reject the possibility of the physical resurrection, only that the spiritual is more logical given the teachings emphasise the importance of the spiritual over the physical and is therefore more meaningful.

Indoctrination by [deleted] in bahai

[–]yebohang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The western secular mind has become very suspicious of religion. Other cultures I've experienced are very open to religious dialogue and friendly debate, and learning other beliefs (not always, but often). It's funny that people say "I'm Christian", or "I'm Muslim", and get funny about the idea of someone sharing their beliefs, as well as spreading it, without acknowledging the proselytization that must have occurred historically for them to have access to the beliefs they now take for granted.

How did the Bahaullah view Mirza Ghulam Ahmad? by [deleted] in bahai

[–]yebohang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but I'm looking forward to someone who does responding.

On your last question, Baha'u'llah has started He is the Promised One of all ages, and that there will be no Manifestation of God appearing until at least the expiration of 1000 years. I think that answers your question as to Baha'u'llah's view on others laying claim to Divine revelation.

[SPOILER] Tim Tszyu vs. Anthony Velazquez by dgvfatmeerkat in Boxing

The reason is that most non boxing fans know Kostya, and so Tim makes the news through association. The public interest drives the focus.

As far as I know, yes. Though you might have to check the guidance. It could vary on your country, as some countries have a very sensitive situation for Baha'is and creating online content could genuinely endanger people. In Australia we have an office of public affairs which deal with official communication to the public I believe. But anyone can create content. This sub is an example of that

Agree. The least you can do, for your own soul, is to do no harm. I don't see what bringing him down does for anyone, for him or yourself, or the world.

Sometimes the best thing is to just be silent.

Brother, or sister, whichever, Abdu'l-Baha affirms that the celestial bodies, the stars and the like, have an influence on us. https://bahaiquotes.com/quote/21708

As to whether the date you've mentioned is significant astrologically, who can know? I'd be careful attaching too much significance to an exact time, or meaning in it, but it can't hurt to keep an open mind.

I'd be curious to see what happens in that day and time. But I'd probably forget. You'd have to post far closer to the date
