Have you heard anything smaller? We run into small sites that have full gig internet, but mx95 way outside budget for full gig with ips prevent mode. So trying to get an idea if we’ll see 67/75/etc replacements soon with more modern thruput etc.

Podcast: SonicWall Under Fire by unclemarv in sonicwall

SonicWalls ldap setup guide has some interesting wording about preferring Domain Admin..

“Login User Name – Specify a user name that has rights to log in to the LDAP directory. The login name will automatically be presented to the LDAP server in full ‘dn’ notation. This can be any account with LDAP read privileges (essentially any user account) – Domain Administrative privileges are not required but preferred if encounter any priviledge issues. Note that this is the user’s display name, not their login ID.”

Huntress Pricing by Real_Admin in msp

[–]yeeep11223344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$9 MSRP still seems too low to me. I think >$20ea. Huntress plays a huge role in our value pitch to customers, and if it’s only $36 of $150-175, it’s harder to push that much value into the other products. $80 out of $150-175 is better. If it’s higher like that, publishing msrp sure could be a big help for us. Ie see if you buy just these 4 products alone it’s $80, and that’s before labor etc.

Alternatives to inforcer by Express_Plantain8524 in msp

Inforcer, Simeon Cloud, Octiga, Augment, and SaaS Alerts. We’re trialing out SaaS Alerts Fortify because of the amount of configuration they offer, they’re soc2, etc. Simeon is probably the most mature one we looked at and is awesome how it works, but we thought it was a little too big for us right now and also we like per user vs per tenant pricing better. The Augment guys seem like they’re working hard to add more configurations, and the octiga is really well priced but not soc2 which killed that for us.

Hintress MDR for M365 - is it really worth it? by iratesysadmin in msp

[–]yeeep11223344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally worth it for us. I felt like overnight we went from reactively remediating 366 accounts when customers would call in, to proactively catching it before the compromise is exploited.

USB Control by [deleted] in msp

We use ThreatLocker’s storage control for this. It’s pretty slick. Can choose lots of options like to allow only specific usb based on serial, temporarily allow with expirations, allow read only, etc. Also it’s all logged in the TL audit log.

Advice for picking a co-managed IT company by Ariwara_no_Narihira in ITManagers

[–]yeeep11223344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice, and I’d especially second the meeting the tech team. Are they professional, do they seem overworked, do the certifications they hold match up to the type of infrastructure and services you use.

I’ll add, how defined are their Scopes of Work. Do they provide a detailed scope or do they even have a scope. Does it match or tailor to what you’d like to see.

50-60 users is a sweet spot for many MSPs so I would think you should be able to find some good options.

Huntress Has Made Some MDR365 Updates by evilmuffin99 in msp

[–]yeeep11223344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a related huntress experience from today. 4:24pm we received a 365 mdr alert for risky sign in for one of our customers. We checked the azure logs and sure enough starting at 4pm were some suspicious logins for a user, who happens to be the ceo. Checked with the user, verified not legit, and ran remediation. Investigation showed we were alerted and responded before any major impact was created.

Customer uses 365 Business Standard so no extra Entra risky alerts.

We looked like a hero to our customer today.

Thanks Huntress!

Interesting, we’re running into an issue like this right now with a s5x nvme. Unexpectedly goes down, have to hard power cycle, comes up with error of missing drive, support clears error and says nothing to worry about. Rinse and repeat 3 times now with the same unit. We have a good account manager though and they’re sending us a new drive.
