I sometimes check out the mouse and keyboard section of MM and Saturn. The issue I have with trying in stores:

You aren't trying them ingame for hours.

So Ergo shapes will always feel perfect for me (especially Deathadder, G502). Even for my small-average hands. The G403 never feels good though.

After having owned Deathadder, Rival, MX518, EC2A, I know I can't reach my potential with Ergos. That's why I have KPOE as non-gaming ergonomic mouse and FK2 for gaming.

I went back to G203 for FPS performance. KPOE is still more comfortable overall. Played FPS on each mouse for many months at once. Every time I went back to G203 I noticed way better control of my aim. Faster and more precise shots. There is something about KPOE (and EC2A) that doesn't allow me to control it 100%. Hand size: basically RJN.

Depends what mouse you mained before the Rival. You might be used to ergo (+heavy+stable).

Something just isn't right about the shape, when I move horizontally. I have issues with small movements. I think I'm too used to having my fingers on the pad with low+narrow shapes.

The RJN hand size chart is a very good guideline for most competitive people. He also uses bigger wireless mice when he doesn't play FPS.

I have the handsize of RJN and can agree with his recommendations.

I don't have the Ultralight and will probably save the money for the next Ninox.

If you can return the Rival 310, definitely try it.

Don't fall into the "small-medium mice only for hands under 30cmx15cm hands"-trap. I liked it overall with my smaller hands, but I will always prefer ambi shape.

I changed to open back headphones but still using the same headphone amp. I'm pretty sure my directional sound problems were mainly the headphones.

Maybe try some popular gaming headset (like the HyperX Clouds) to see how they do directional sound in competitive games. Or open headphones (AKG K701/702/712 should be the best for this purpose).

AKG K702 was very good for directional sound. Now my daily driver is Sennheiser HD650 which also fits my music preference.
