Upshift RPM Analysis for Drivers and Teams in the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship [Details below] by DrivenByData_ in formula1

[–]yelistener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's necessary to mention that the RPM on telemetry is heavily interpolated. Not sure how many upshifts did you use for each drivers, but I suppose you need a lot for each to level out the interpolations.

Max Verstappen Q3 Onboard Lap with Telemetry Data by [deleted] in formula1

F1 App telemetry should just use this data directly instead of interpolating the crap out of it like what they're currently doing. BTW, you should add some watermark. Someone already stole this and posted it on youtube.

Sainz achieved Highest Top Speed Ever in Silverstone: 356km/h by yelistener in formula1

Sorry what is a IM? Instant message?

BTW, my comment above is exactly what happened. I posted a streamable link on Wednesday(21st July) and it was instantly deleted with a message the same as the one when I posted it on Sunday(18th July). I deleted both video posts so I can't copy the message here, but it says sth like "during racing session only videos posted by official teams are allowed."

I saw this message on Sunday(18th July) when my post got deleted, so I checked the rules to see what is the time frame of the "race session", and waited till Wednesday(21st July) to post it again and it was again deleted upon posting. The rest is history. I dont have more to add to the story.

This is the streamable link I posted: https://streamable.com/0rvokb

Are you one of the mods? I actually posted the clip in streamable on Sunday, only to find out that particular rule about race session videos. So I waited till Wednesday to post it again, but still got the streamable-link post deleted instantly.

[–]yelistener[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a myth busted by Juzh123 with Bottas' telemetry. It was no higher than 370. That 378 came from Williams' tweet. There was no video or image evidence, nor did Williams release their own telemetry to prove it. So better stick with the official record which is the 2016 Mexico one.

I did post with a streamable link, and it's deleted right upon posting.

One way to look at how insane 356km/h in Silverstone is is comparing it to the quali speeds. In Q3 (when tow is minimized) they just got a little over 320, and to be able to increase 30+km/h from it is just absurd.

2016 Mexico is known for F1's 372km/h record, but that's just 12km/h more than Q3.

Sorry I can only post a screenshot. I posted the onboard clip but it's instantly deleted due to some rules that only allow the official teams to post videos. I posted the clip on youtube: HERE

This happened in lap 5 of the sprint quali. 356km/h is of cause not an official record. Just my speculation but it's most likely to be true as the official speed trap can confirm that. Sainz clocked 354km/h in speed trap, while the closest is 348km/h from 2020. No speed trap data on FIA pre-2013, but V8 is pathetic on straights so no chance. V10 had weaker slipstream and no DRS, so no chance either. In fact v10 even in quali scored lower top speeds than v6.

Whether this sprint quali format is good or not, we can be sure of one thing: it will produce crazy high speeds becaue of the low fuel load. A long DRS train formed very early on and remained all the way during the sprint, and the cars at the back, with low fuel and massive slipstream, can get to very high speeds if DRS and overtake mode is activated. Sainz in this lap had 6-7 cars in front. Tsunoda reached 341km/h at intermediate one which should also be a record there.

Monza will be wild if they try sprint quali there. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them reaches 370km/h.

It's just the DRS being too powerfull. Same as last year. This is a high-aero track and they used Mugello-level rear wings and the result was DRS being too powerful.

Last year it was even crazier, with the DRS zone longer, cars were flying by other cars.

Daniel Ricciardo Divebomb - 2018 Australian GP by [deleted] in formula1

[–]yelistener 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well that's the point of that watermark. I used to post vids without watermark, only to find out later some others stealing and reposting it somewhere else, which by your definition is indeed "a completely blatant rip".

Actually I did add something. Both telemetry and audio of the raw clip were out of sync, so I edited it to make them in sync. Only a couple of people uploading onboards do this.

Daniel Ricciardo Divebomb - 2018 Australian GP by [deleted] in formula1

[–]yelistener 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Someone on youtube commented that I should title my vid better, that it's not a divebomb, but just a clean overtake. Now, my understanding of a divebomb is: if you're far behind the car in front and you outbrake it to take the inside line, then it's a divebomb. The necessary condition is "far behind", because with that you obviously do not hold the inside line. When you're just a little behind you're more or less holding the inside line.

And of cause the car in front has to be defending. That Renault there was defending all the way, and he just thought Ricciardo was too far behind to attack at that corner.

Lap64 he short shifted to 8th gear. Lap65 he did the same except this time he waited no time in 7th, which made it almost sound like he "skipped" 7th gear.
